Got to the coast on Thursday. Beautiful conditions. Same for Friday. Dove in good conditions for ab on Saturday. No problems.
First one in the parking lot at Ft Ross on Sunday, or so I thought. As I was driving to the launch I see Naoaki driving up from the launch. He beat me by a few minutes.
We headed out into light wind conditions. Enough to be a bother but not a pain.
Then it became a pain and then some. REAL windy.
We hunkered at the protected end of the cove. All I can say is the landlord is not doing his job very well. Furbags EVERYWHERE.
I decided to paddle over to the next cove to see if it was any better. Naoaki followed until he radioed me saying he wasn't moving forward at all. He headed back while I paddled on for a little bit.
The next cove offered no protection from what I could see and the swells and wind were brutalizing me. I had to drift back with my bow facing the waves. I knew trying to turn in those waves would have dumped me for sure.
Made it back to the cove and we headed in.
Total tally for me was a big fat skunk. My first ever in my kayak on the ocean.
The wind gods knew Sunday was the opener. The conditions just plain sucked.

Tote-

Way to give it a go. Sucks how much the wind is such a buzz kill. At least you got some abs out there.
