A smart call.  Always better to be on shore wishing you were out fishing than being out fishing wishing you were on shore  :smt003 .

I guess you guys were a day a late and a dollar short so to speak.  Conditions on the ocean were so nice yesterday.   :smt009
Etienne - I got to remember this line above. I should've followed you.  :smt002

Nice to see you back on the water Craig.
Kayaking in those conditions can be fun. Fishing in those conditions isn't IMO.

now that does not look like any fun. glad those who chose to do it made it back safe and those who chose not to do it had a good breakfast. it was really nice to sleep in today.

launching/landing weren't too bad. i did fall in the water about chest deep when coming back in but it wasn't too bad. if only fishing was better, it would've made up for the rough conditions. but least we tried. good to meet everyone and see you next time.

Well, gezzzz, it really wasn't that bad.
I really enjoy paddling up over the swells and dropping down the other side, I thought it was fun, but combined with the wind it was hard fishing. I marked plenty of fish, but nothing was biting and holding a spot was impossible. All the same it was a nice to be out on the water and a pretty good workout too, better than being in the gym on a Sunday morning. Meeting up with everyone was a kick, just a nice group and lots of laughs. No carnage on the landings that I saw, it had potential but everyone got out smoothly.
I agree with Tote

Well I decided last minute to skip the Bean due to poor condition. Switch to plan B and fish the Berkeley Flat instead. Glad to see everybody is safe.

Amazing guts for those who launched!  I kept an eye on LM all Saturday and it only got worse as the the day progressed.  By 4 PM the caps were white and the chop was trechorous.  After talking with Bill about the forecast it seemed a good bet to sleep in.  Thank god I was right.  Glad everyone came back safe and no worse for the wear.

It was good to see you folks yesterday, but I'm not sorry I joined the 'wimp patrol'!  Looking forward to next time.

The bouys were saying not to go...but my "INNER MADNESS" just wouldn't listen....and besides, Mooch said it was gonna be OK in the morning. Pack up the BODYBOARD incase there were some waves to ride, but it was too windy for that too. I'm gonna get me a KITE! :smt013

Since James mentioned it I better point out that I too had a wet exit, but it was completely operator error.  I got hit by the tiny shore waves right at the beach.  Gotta learn to jump out sooner.

Nice to meet you, James, and congrats/good luck with the baby!

Geez, I look at the pics & I'm thinking "It was wayy uglier than that!"
I overslept, which kind of rattled my planned pre-fishing morning mojo, but I was out of the house & at the bluff of the Bean in 30min (a new record).
On the drive down the mountain I had to dodge deer, quail, stellar jays, raccoons, and ravens. I was thinking "Would all these %$#@ing woodland creatures just get back to Snow White and get the
%*$#@ out of my way, I'm late for FISHING!"
On the drive up things were looking good, swell was not an issue. I started to get psyched again untill passing PP, when a glance out to sea showed too many sheep.
Anyway, it was nice to do the meet n greet & watch the brave souls launch & batter against the breeze. Next time I'm bringing warmer clothes though, boardshorts & flip flops were not the order of the morning (In my defense, I thought I'd be in a wetsuit)!
I ended up back at the homestead to watch "no country for old men" with a good cup of coffee.

Eric-those jigs are really cool.
Craig-didn't get a chance to say hi but kudos for modeling in the coolest photo of the day!
Fishunter, Fendente, & Mooch-hope the food in pescadero was good!

It was great to meet some new new folks. We'll do it again soon (but with fish this time). I am steadfastly committed this year, so I'll be watching the weather & when its good I am there-workdays are no object!
