As an over experienced water dumper- first thing you do when a cell phone gets wet is pull the battery. Then let it dry for about a day. 95% of the time it will ressurect. Never tried it with my digital camera and hope I never will. I keep in in my hatch and pull it out only to take a picture.

I did that with a digital camera. Dropped it in the Animus River in Colorado while trout fishing. Took out the batteries and dried it out. After 3 days, it started working again. Worked perfectly for a year and then died.

So I lost a little over $100 in gear.

Let me get a good pfd and a warm wet suit and it's on!. I'm sick of fishing in those heavy hunting waders lol.

Jeff, PM me your mailing address.

One thing I have learned on my Hobie is prior to entering a  bend in the river is to put the rudder up as the river will force an  "end around"  on you the minute you get even slightly sideways.

Totally correct on pulling the rudder.  In fact, reliance on the rudder is what got me in trouble.  All you hobie guys running rivers, don't bother with the rudder in the chutes, its worthless.  Save the rudder for when your pointed upstream, backtrolling, or in a slow patch of river.  I paddled more on the Stanislaus than I have in a long time, it was fun.  as might be guessed, its not the same type of paddling as you would do out on big blue, say for example to get to the Kitchen from the Mill Creek launch.  much more power oriented on the river, burst/ anaerobic v. endurance.

And its also different power paddling than busting in and out of surfzone.  Surf launch and landing is straight line acceleration.  hitting the river, direction and power are both concerns.

In short, i'm done doing swift water in a 16 footer.  I'd have to drop down to a single digit in length to have any safe fun in the bends and chutes.
