If I can find some from to carpool with from the Bay Area or Monterey and the the conditions are good, I might be up for it. Gas prices are really brutal. Most folks are holding out for the the north coast opener on 6/1 but I have other plans for that day and not really up for the crowds anyway. Anybody up for a carpool from the East Bay or Monterey?

Weather permitting. Willing to meet at Monterey and share gas price, but I can only fit one yak on top.

Wow wife out of town. How does that happen? I can sweeten the carpool deal a little, I have a state park pass and can park for free at the day use area.

I was down there with my GF and did a recon it on it Sunday. Monterey was nasty windy and cold, expected the same in Big Sur. Nada, warm and almost 70', glassy water and Limkiln had no more than a knee high break-if that. I guess that must not be the norm according to all that I have read. No one out fishing it when I was there, but came upon a group of 4 kayaks fishing a spot further south just past some creek thats about 30-40 miles beyond Kirk Creek. Looked like a long beach, but a narrow path from the road that would not accept a rolleez through the brush. Good luck, wish I could go, maybe I can make it.  Mike

Well, I will keep this as an option, there are so many choices and to be honest, LK is a long drive from anywhere.  Like I have much if anything to complain about.  There are other areas between here and there that need their fish (lingcod) populations thinned out.

PJ -

I think we will probably be meeting at Monastary and making the decision Saturday morning after checking out the conditions. I will PM you my cell and we can talk Saturday morning about what our destination is. Of course, you and Littoral are welcome to join us. I don't know where we will be, but IT WILL BE AN ADVENTURE!  :smt003

So we'll say tenative launch time is 7 a.m.

Scott, DP, All, I don't know if Littoral is going to make it, I hope so & I hope you guys can all swing it as well. We should all touch base closer to Friday.

Not to open another can of worms but;

I'd be open to hauling boats down cliffs, out 1 mile paths, thru caves or paddling out somewhere around the Sur lighthouse via A.M.???

It should not be that bad.  50-ft should be enough  :smt044  The AM hike is out from my point of view now that they have closed the whole area between Pt Sur AM.  That is a sad thing as the fishing there might have been better than LK.  There are many other unexplored and exploited areas.

I believe the forcast should be fine.  If it's anything like it's been it could be awesome.

I just need at least 1 person to commit by 4 pm Friday?  Basically I'm not going out there by myself & it seems like some of you can't make it so I just don't want to drive all the way up there & have no one show up? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller???

.SAT...NW WINDS 10 TO 20 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT.
