Yesterday I had the misfortune to have a canister of silica desiccant on an air system exploded in my face. Where I work it is a very long drive in an ambulance to the hospital. So, they called the helicopter to fly me out. Well, I asked who was on the helicopter, and found out that our own Terry, (Hydrospider) was the flight paramedic. Once he found out who I was, he was very concerned on how I was doing. I had very "Excellent" care from Terry, and hope that we never have to meet again like that on the helicopter, and really would rather meet on the water instead. I'm peppered on my left arm, across my chest with about 3-4 mm size holes from the desiccant. I have bad ringing in my ears, lost about 10-15% hearing in my right ear, and tend to jump at loud noises. I want to say a big, "THANK YOU" to you Terry, and you are an excellent person for the job you are doing. :groupwave
Terry- Rory's  family says thank you for taking such good care of him! Thanks,  Angie, Minden and Kyle

First, Glad you are Okay Rory.  Sorry for the accident, pain, etc., and hope you heal clean and quick.

Second, Yay Hydrospyder!!!

How cool is that!

We seem to have a high percentage of first responders on this board.  How nice to take that ride with someone you have a connection with already.

Let's hear it for Terry, and for very one of the EMTs, paramedics, Firefighters, and law enforcement bretheren (and sisteren)

Having taken an ambulance ride recently myself, I say thanks all you guys!!

(Now I'm going to figure out who responded to my house and offer them all kayak fishing excursins soon's my arm heals up!!  and free passes for the summer on the skate ramp)

Great report!  I mean, not that you got hurt, Rory, but the "hookup" that you had is a wonderful example of the special community that exists here.  Bravo, Terry.  And Bravo, Rory, for letting us all know what went down.  Get well soon.

Rory, Sorry to hear of your misfortune..hope you heal up QUICKLY with no long term injuries, but if you typed your own message I would say your good-to-go as far as fishing .......where are we fishing next?
Terry, I really enjoy fishing with you but hope I never get that kind of  tour in your whirly thing. Good going on taking care of the brotherhood.

LETS TAKE A POLL:  Change Terry's handle from Hydrospider to The Guardian Angel of Lake County.  Good Job Terry, that geysers area if muy dangerous.  Lots of big nasty power lines. It makes the pilots pucker....

Rory,
Its great to hear that you are recovering. We were also very happy to find that you had no eye or structural airway injuries. Industrial accidents can cause some of the worst injuries imaginable and Id be willing to bet that the reality of how lucky you were is starting to sink in.
The other reality is that I am a very small part of a system that was able to care for Rory.
Without dispatchers, the fuzz, fire crews, RNs, MDs, and the list goes on, we wouldnt be able to help anyone. In my position I feel that the biggest hero, and the least recognized is the aircraft mechanic. I will pass on your thankfulness to all of the crew at the base.
Hang in there Rory and I hope all of your wounds heal quickly

that which does not kill us........

Hey guys, thanks for the wishes. I went back to work yesterday. And found out that is was a little bit early. The wounds are healing up. Still fighting a headache and a lot of ringing in the ears. Hope to hit the water this weekend, but will see. Terry, you are a very modest man, but you and all personel, (Including the mechanic) I thank you. Hope to all on the water soon. And Sean, you have a good person to go to Mexico with you. And if I don't hear from you guys, HAVE FUN IN MEHEEEEECO!!!!!
