It's my feeling that there are "a lot" of sharks along that stretch because there are a lot of people there to see them. Put another way; I am sure there are plenty of GWS all along the coast, but there aren't hundreds of surfers in the water at Limekilm or Ft Ross, so we never hear about it. (Unlike Bolinas or Ocean Beach in SF).

Plenty of surfing done at the Fort and spots just north and south of there and no sightings or attacks that I've heard of. But of course I'm sure they're there at times. Two times I've been chased out by gws. Once at San Gregario and once at North Beach in P.R. Both times surfing not diving. I figure if I got bit the board/flotation might just save my okole. So what I'm getting at is I might surf Shark Pit someday, but I don't think I wanna dive it. Test bite of ab-diver from 18 footer=DNF. Props to you Jim for diving this area. I've heard Palo Marin has some, sharks and abs, but I haven't been back there since I started diving.   jim/redyak
