I tie my braid to my mono with a uni to uni knot. I use a leader of about 8 feet, as I think that is long enough for the shock/stretch of the initial bite, and it gives me enough mono to retie while I'm on my yak.

CHEERS!
Great minds think alike......and it's what I was told to do!

ditto (leader between 12-20 #s depending on where i am and what's left in the box)

So Sean, do the siwash hooks straighten when you get hung up, or do they just not tend to snag up in the first place??

The snag wayyyyyy less and you can almost always rattle them free.

I like the albright and tie most of my setups with it then at least a rod and a half length of flouro. This is the first season of fishing with the siwash trade out for the treble and hearing you guys talk about this stuff makes me think I am heading in the right direction.

I usually tie a Bimini double in my braid to a Albright, lately I've been playing with the Braid leader knot.

One of the advantages of a kayak is losing a lot less tackle.

With the Siwash or assist hooks you can usually just paddle back uphill and shake it free.

I mentioned the siwash switchout to a buddy last night... he added a suggestion: he hooks a piece of tubing and runs it up the hook.  the tubing should be fairly stiff, kinda like surgical tubing.  The idea is that the tubing extends down past the hook, (an inch or two) so when vertically jigging it is the fist thing to hit bottom, and cuases the hook to turn or lay down, preventing it from getting real deep into little nooks and crannies in the rocks.  If nothing else I suppose it may add some attractive value, but it does seem to make sense in theory...

Frank, i may be wrong but I dont think he was reffering to a particular knot in so much as he was talking about trying out new knots for the transition from braid to leader, or knots for a braided leader.

Frankie its a knot to tie your topshot or leader onto your braid, its in that paperback book on braid knots by Geoff Wilson.

The "Sebile Knot" is a new sexy one that is super small because the mono or fluoro is not wound or doubled.
