How about a place that has an option for halibut ... like Davenport or some other area north of Santa Cruz?  Bayside is reporting more halibut showing from SC up to Davenport.

Allen, Linda Mar has halibut for sure..... BIG ones too!
It's just that few guys here have put much effort in targetting them -- too much salmon and rockfish on the brain. :smt003
Friday and Saturday would be ideal to try for halibut.

hey guys...just so you know, sunday we picked up loads (8 for 3 plus 5 misses) of hallies near the northbar. Baker beach might be a really good option if the waves are small.  Rodeo would probably be a really good bet too

Hmm well crap, we could do HMB again, Mavericks is a pretty nice spot or do Linda Mar since there are some nice reefs there as well.

I would vote HMB due to easier Ono access  :smt003

Bill, I've been checking out the fish carcass trash bin at the HMB launch ramp for the past 2 days - just to see how the private boaters are doing. The bin has been filled to the rim on each day :smt107 Ton's of rock fish , a few big lings and some halibut as well - did not see too many cabs or Salmon caught. I spoke to one of the boaters and he said that a lot of the smaller skiffs have been taking advantage of the calm ocean conditions and are making a killing in areas where the bigger boats don't even bother with.

I'd try to fish anywhere South of Pescadero.....the skiffs don't go that far.

just my 2 cents.

Anyway, good luck to all this weekend....looking forward to pics and reports.....looks like I'm breaking out of the "Mooch Life Style" and will be heading inland for a wedding. My poor kayak will not see any water this weekend  :smt011 The horror  :smt088

Seems as though schools of stripers have been in and out of Linda Mar during the week.  Usually I would be surf fishing for them but yesterday when headed down to the beach guys were arm and arm.  10-12 came up though I think the best action was at Rockaway.

Well guys I am leaning towards Linda Mar since there is a great chance to catch any number of things.

What has the surf been like down there?

If I go, I'm heading to Davenport.  I won't know until late Friday night.  If anyone plans on being there, let me know and I'll look for you.

Allen - watch out for the local surfer dude who drives a teal colored old school pick-up truck.....not a very friendly guy.

Good luck with the fishing!

I find that not too many people are "unfriendly" to me.  It helps to be 6'3", 210#.  The people that mouth off always seem to be these scrawny 13 year old punks.

I got BUTT on my mind!!!

LM was Greasy this evening and the same is expected for Friday and Saturday should be similar.  Chuck and I are heading out of LM 7am Friday and targeting some northern sights that have been know to hold butts, lings and stripers.  WIll give report.
