Last minute outting to the Loch, on the water around 8:30am, to glassy waters, overcast skies and a little chilly out.  Was going to try my downrigger out again, but while loading the yak up I noticed the DR's clip was missing its little spring.  No problem I had a spare clip in my trout box.  Grab it and determin it's spring is gone as well!  On well. DR stayed in truck.
As I was prepping for launch, a couple guys hauled their boat, they limited out early!  Someone asked them, they said, "the fish were on top"  I started with my "goto" spinner, the yellow roostertail 1/4oz on my mini flashers.  Nada!   Trolled out towards dam.  On way back put on a 1/4oz white rooster tail, with a little night crawler for nada!
Buddy arrived, launched, and started trolling his large "Super duper" and had two hit within 10min! :smt013  I tried my "super duper"   For nada!
Well, there was one lure in my arsenal I hadn't tried yet.  A lime green wedding ring tipped with "Glitter Chartruse" trout bait (Power bait)
Well maybe 40yds traveled with the wedding ring and I get hit hard!   :smt003  This fish fought hard!  He fought like he though he was a 18"er!  Got to the yak and on the stringer.  Was only 13" but he had some weight to him!
Next hook up was maybe 15min later!  The second fish fought just as hard, so I played it by loosing the drag way up.  Got some air time with it as well.
Third fish came on our way back to the dock.  It was smaller than the my first two, though about releasing him, but it was bleeding a little too much so on the stringer it went.  All were caught near the surface. (Within 10-15ft)

Water temp at 9:30 was 57.4 as displayed by my FF.  Which only lasted 6hrs (its an old 5ah battery)

The "Classic shot" of Loch Lomond.

Got home and fired up the barbi and Q'd them up.  Yum!

Great stringer, Troy. Did you make it to Mendo this weekend?

did your friend have any scent on his super duper? cause that's the only thing you final lure had over your other choices.

you friend might have got his speed more optimal for the lures he used too. or turned more, or just got lucky!  :smt005

cool that you hooked up with some fiesty ones before you ran out off time!

No scents on his super duper,  it was just big and flashy.  The hook was maybe size 02 treble.  The tiny fish were hitting it, but fortunately for them their little mouths couldn't get over the hooks.
I tried half a night crawler on one roostertail, (The yellow one I think) It didn't help a bit.  I didn't try the glitter green trout bait on the roostertail though. I thought for sure a worm would have sparked some interest.

I also noted that all three of my fish came when I was maintaining a somewhat constant 1.2-1.3mph troll speed.(By GPS) I was holding my rod in right hand, and pulling the tip forward, then slacking back releasing (Letting lure fall)  I kept this up pretty much the whole time. So I was able to detect the hits very quickly.
While ducking into some coves, wasn't able to see any trailers for my crappi and blug-gil lure.  (Tiny trout traps or Gidgits)  Water is very clear still.

Troy,

We paddled there on Sunday with exact same conditions. Got there at 8:00am, had the dumb hull inspection (even though I gave them last week's inspection sheets), then paddled all the way down to the very end of Waddell Creek. Had lunch, pulled back into the main lake and were greeted by gale force winds.

My 15 year old daughter was struggling on her Tarpon 100 and a 220cm paddle.

Being the great Dad I am  :smt044, I gave her my Prowler13 and my 230cm paddle.

Still wore her butt out...

Teased her unmercifully all the way back, "hey you're 15, I'm 53,.. Can't keep up with your "old "man?? "Want me to tow you back??"

Its a good thing she loves me...
