yep-- 6 inches...actually 6.5 (just measured)- just enough for that flasher to clear the swivel/dropper weight. that means i have about 5 to 5.5 feet from swivel to last hook, which puts it just about perfect to net a fish with my 7' rod.

right now....i'd troll in close (shallower than the party boats) to either the paradise (~10feet), san quentin area (~10feet), near brooks island (maybe danglin can give ya info here), or chrissy field-- not too close, but inside the party boats. They're basically scraping the prime grounds clean- its time to look for other opportunities.

You could certainly use one of the rotaters, but I don't think it matters to a halibut, like it does to a salmon.....whole squid work well for halibut in the ocean, don't know about the ay.  Best, i think to try and use local bait or emulate the local food source.
