wondering what you think of my rig

You look like you have it...

The Madness, that is.

Good luck to you.   :smt002

PS:  You can do plenty in a tandem.  I've been paddling one for certain applications for years.

We'll, my first day out ever fishing from a kayak and at Still Water, get everything loaded go to get my paddle and put it together, arrgghh,  :smt013  i brought both male sides from my set of four (no liberachie jokes please), i asked another fisher on the beach if they rented paddles around here, he said he did, i was in luck. Thanks for fishbear for letting me use his paddle, ill bring both sets from now on.

Paddled out, trolled with a fake anchovie and jigged it and all that stuff, no response, then decided to change tackle. I had a bag of gulp shrimp looking things ive had for about 3 years, so i figured why not, dropped the "lure" down and before i hit the bottom, fish on! Reeled my first fish ever from a kayak in and since i had no idea what kind, size, limit, time, etc., and he looked so cute, i let him go. Moved a bit, and wham, fish number two, i think they were olives, both a little under a foot.

Moved again and wham, pulled up a copper looking thing, set him free and was off to catch some more. Off in the distance i see, fish number three, alive, but puttering around upside down, stopped my fishing and was going to get him going again or make him fish tacos. I lean over to grab him by my hand and as im leaning down, man over board, doh! Got back on will all my gear still in tact.

Wind picked up, fish finally went down. Great first day on the water, glad i wore that wetsuit and i will keep my rig ghetto, ghetto fabulous that is. It did everything i wanted and not a single thing was donated to the pacific when i visited daveys locker (waiting room anyway), heres the pics. And thanks to all ncka'rs for all the wisdom.  :smt001

Nice job you got to practice self rescue also. Glad everything worked for you.

That's a great first report Clem but it doesn't do it justice here in the <General talk>. Going over into the drink  :smt009 and then getting yourself back in :smt007 is a major confidence booster. You lived to tell about it, I see great things for you. Pick up a copy of George Gronseth's book "Deep Trouble" and study it religiously. If you need more after that come see me. :smt003
