What is the best method/tackle etc for stripers at the ARW? Is this a good time to target them?

I noticed that live bait seems to be a big deal for halibut on this board. We went for halibut Thursday but didn't have a bait tank so we used frozen anchovies. We caught a halibut and the only other guy that I saw catch a halibut said he was using frozen anchovies. Do most of you use live bait? Is it worth the money and trouble for halibut? I bought a bag of frozen anchovies at Sportsman's Warehouse for 1.89. I think Walmart has them even cheaper. We fished for 6 hours and didn't even use up one bag.

Yeah, live bait for drifting.  I've gotten them drifting 'chovie pops too, but that was a last resort thing, not what I had set out to do.  I just prefer live bait cause I get a kick out of the whole process of finding your own bait and catching fish with it.

Frozen (trolling) or live (drifting), both methods get the job done.  I guess it comes down to personal preference and when you want to do the hard work (before fishing or during).

How do you get live bait? I know you can buy bait but how do you catch it? Will frozen sardines work as well as frozen anchovies?

Meh, forget the bait.  We're killing em on soft plastics right now.
Good luck and tight lines.

I'll retract my statement.  The only thing I caught today was a rock crab which actually clamped onto my fish trap. :smt012 :smt012
Good luck and tight lines.
