The conditions were beautiful this weekend, we dove anchor bay with 25' visibility and could easily windowshop abs and fish from the surface.  5 hours in the water yielded 7 nice blues (ones you'd keep off the kayak too), and a limit of 9" abs.  Some guys went a couple miles up the coast in a RIB and came in with 10"ers.

Anchor bay is awesome because the campsites are 100' from the surf and the beach is family friendly, there are showers and a little store so it's pretty good for bringing a spouse and maintaining the WAF.  This is a photo of the closest campsites, mine was about 100 feet farther back.

A couple large sea lions checked me out in the water, I much prefer harbor seals, even if they bite sometimes.  Those lions are BIG.  After shooting a fish I made sure to hug it to my chest while swiming back to the kayak so they wouldn't get any ideas.

I'm glad to see there aren't any proposed MPAs in this spot.  I guess if they did the campground could probably sue DFG for destroying their business and property value.  I wonder if the sea ranch folks will do that.  They should at least be compensated for the loss in property value.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Nice Haul, PS!

Dave/Pescadore took me diving today (Sunday) at Caspar.  My first time diving.  Foggy but great visability. Saw lots of 8 and a few 9 inch abs, big urchins, and a legal crab, all in 6-12 feet of water.  Problem was, I was 3 pounds too light on my weight belt and couldn't dive!  Talk about frustrating!  Oh well, it was great fun anyway. Maybe next weekend when the Guitarzan crew is up here at Van Damme.   Cheers, -Matt

Looks like a great day in the water, I was in the area on a major GAF building trip Friday afternoon (dive gear left at home) as the wind and swells died off to nothing.....

Glad someone's out there   :smt001
