took the big boat out today, launched from berkeley before 9am. four of us trolled dodger/herring in 10ft between brooks island and the the pier. we caught 6, 4 were keepers to 30". lots of boats in the morning, only a couple left by 2 pm. very windy after lunchtime.
already home and cleaned up/with a cold beer.
the fish were within kayaking distance, off albany, however it was very, very windy.  the boat was rockin'.
it would be to difficult to paddle and troll in the chop, but some live bait would slay them, imho.

for those who don't know, R-5 is short for Racer 5, my favorite beer.  i had a case mailed to sean to express my gratitude for his work on 2XA in the mlpa. can you imagine having to sit through all those f****** boring government meetings?  we are fortunate to have had sean there, we all need to send him beer!

hey smokie, 10 oz sinker on a 15" dropper, 24" to the medium size dodger, 18"-24" to a sliding nose hook, then a smallish size treble.  i can never remember how to tie a snell to the nose hook, so i use a short piece of line and i tie a uni-knot.  it is difficult to let the rig out while paddling, let it out slow. then bounce the bottom twice and keep going.

Hey K.F. Use the same knot used for a steelhead loop, but leave a longer tag on the part you wrap over. Then tie your treble on after. Basicly it's a whip finish, same as tying off a fly.

Good to hear KF!  now if the daily-local hurricane would move out, we'd be on them!  Thanks for the butt'-pump-up!
