Great weather & water condition until the wind came up around 1-2pm.

I got skunked, but I learned a lot in my first kayak fishing voyage.

I tried some trolling and found it hard to keep a steady course.  Any tips?

I fished from OP pier area, the swirl, and the tubes.

More paddling practice or get a rudder, wind sucks. If you are paddling in the wind its hard to stay straight. Trolling with the rod to one side will turn you toward that side, that can help some.

shicken,

Just like flying, point your nose to a landmark and keep it there. That is what I learned and it helps. A rudder is great too since you can put it where it keeps you in line.
