It it bad that I'm already way too excited about going on this trip?  :smt007

Just bought a  Torium 20 to pair with a heavy jigging stick for yo-yo and I'm figuring that in addition to my 30lb setup for trolling and a 20-25 lb set up for throwing surface iron, I should have the YT bases covered.  :smt066

Now let the tackle gathering begin......  :smt003

Dude, for sure you and Sean slayed them, however, if you hook them close to the bottom, 30# is the minimun I would go with to prevent being "rocked",  IMHO. Are you guys going this year?

 That's interesting...

I had my $450 Avent with 60lb. braid pulling my first beast from 200+' FOW,

It rocked my World,  i kept wondering about Slomo with his spinning outfit and 15lb line taking his beauty in,

Now you have answered the Question, and now feel better about my other Love :smt007

We are in!!
Even though Slomo is giving us all a humorous hard time about the 15lb line (and that fish did come from 170') he seems to be forgetting that we were on our way to fish the boilers for bass, (thus the light gear) when we marked the fish down deep and just did a switch over to blue and white jigs and dropped it down. I would bet $ he won't be targeting YT with that light rig as his go to setup. Of course, having said that he just might to prove a point..... youth!

Rocketman and Slomo - glad you will there. Need to find someone to play cribbage with since Tote couldn't make the trip.

Danglin - I agree, 2 speed Avet reels are awesome. I use the smaller ones for kayak fishing (SX2, MXL2) and the JX2 for 50-100# tuna fishing at Guadalupe. The high speed is perfect for yo-yo iron and the low speed is great when you need to grind on big pelagics. Although the sleigh ride factor allows for the use of light tackle in most yak fishing situations, for deep water fishing against YT or barn door halis it is really nice to have the low gear, 15# of drag and 50-60# spectra.

Hey Scott,

If I make the trip, and if you refresh my memory on how to play, I'm in for the cribbage.  That is, as long as it doesn't interfere with the film festival.  I'll be bringing some socal wines to share as well.  I owe ya for the assist when I rolled.

Shawn -

Hope you make it onboard. Enjoyed fishing with you last year. Hope all is well for you and your family. Only a few more years and Hunter can come on the trip too.

I do not know how I missed this or the initial sign up for people from last year.  Please sign me up right away and let me know the status of the list.  I am bummed out I may miss out because of a communications glitch.
