When I screw up,   I like to try and find a positive as to not make the same mistake twice and learn.

At the beginning of the Week, I let my " Emotions Flow  :smt076 " and well, even if I had a point,

It gets lost in the Rage.

I have since then had some good advice Given to me and thought I would pass it on.

1. If you find yourself so " Moved " by something that someone has written, and you respond with a
  blistering Reply,

Use a 24 hour waiting period, the thread that upset you is not going anywhere,

there is time to think it through

2. Talk to another member about what is troubling you and see if it has Merritt.

3. Send the " Offending poster" a PM and ask what the problem is and maybe they will see the light

and can go back and change their own post rather than " Airing it out in Public " where God only

 knows things can go.

I've been in a couple of these things so far,

I'm new to this type of the thing,( Forums )  but,

I can tell you I have not felt any better about letting my " Heated Emotions " out on this forum.

Finally, My Apologies to those I affected with my " Outburst " and I hope this is a Help to others

in the future and that I practice what I preach :smt002 ........ Danglin

Yep... the golden rules of e-communication... sage advice indeed.  Same rules apply to email.

We all are tempted to throw a bomb from time to time... but it almost always becomes something we regret.

Sounds like someone gave you some pretty good advice, and it's good advice for us all.  But I don't know if I'd include the word "regret" in any of this.

Sure, it could have been handled a bit more tactfully but you read what you read and you responded how you responded. Not all of us run as "hot" as you do, but I would think that it was more than just you who may have felt a little heat after reading the post I'm thinking you're referring to.

I wouldn't want to see this become some slug-fest type of site but I would certainly hope that we wouldn't be discouraged from expressing our discontent with some of the things that go on here.  I'm sure that at some point in our lives we were taught that if you throw a blow you should expect one in return.

Otherwise as Babe Winkleman said in another thread:

...I didn't realize you california boys were so sensitive.  Hows this,

You and I may enter into a fishing competetion so long as no winner or loser is declared, to prevent hurt feelings.  All fish, shall be targeted without the use of hooks so as to not injure any fish or draw attention from kickfish.  At the end of the day we can rejoice at the park to tell fish stories and enjoy an ice cream cone.

I have been a little busy lately, so I feel like I'm in the dark on this "thread of regret".

Don made a good point about letting a little time pass forward an email. Try to pass on the point, not the emotion.

With that said, I would love to have a look at the evil thread.  :smt006

Well said, Don.  It takes a man to own up, and I admire anyone who can turn it positive.  It's a gift to others AND yourself to do so.   :smt001

You're not so new to this forum!  Number 10 poser, er, poster here!   :smt005

...but I'm the same - always learning, and trying to figure out when to bite my tongue.  I'd rather say something and then work it out later rather than hold it all in - or worse, lurk!   :smt004

Eh, this is the time of year we all go stir crazy, I've seen this for years, late winter/early spring, everyone's pissy as a hungry bear that just crawled out of it's den to find food isn't available yet...
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Danglin,

Regarding the 24 hour period, I found that if I write out what I wanted to say at the time without posting it, then come back to it 24 hours later, I often see the error of my way.  I then edit what I am thankful I did not post, and it comes out a little more civil and less emotional.  Now I wish I could do that every time, but . . .

Through adversity we grow. I don't remember who said that but like spring buds I see growth. Good on you Don.

Don - this post was a classy step  :smt002

IF we can all work things out together, we can keep the "good vibe" going in NCKA for a long, long time :smt008

Don,
Thanks for the insight in "sleeping on it" so to speak. I have only been posting on this board for a short time and have read quietly aside a little longer - I have always enjoyed your - to the point and heart of the matter posts. You call 'em like you see-um. If you went off a bit, it seems to me from what I have observed, it was your heart and fire for the people and the subject that guided you. I have been there too (not here....yet) but in a world of guarded discourse and politically correct speak it gives me hope to have someone speak out for what they feel and believe when they feel it. To be able to voice that, then take pause and counsel and come back, apologize and explain the how and why and what you have learned and strive for takes real huevos. I appreciate your effort to work it out. To borrow Dan's (Mahi Mahi) closing......Cheers!
