Eric -

I don't know what your day job is but you really have some talent with the video cam. You should make a DVD and give Jon some competition.  :smt003

Wow... Eric... I really feel for ya bro!
Your video said it all.  There probably would have been more potty-mouthing if it was me... along with periods of intense silent prayer too.

I know a lot of guys, including me, were rooting for you to catch an ocean king.

even though I knew you'd lost it...i still hoped while watching, that the outcome was gonna change for the better

Ditto!  As I sat and watched the video, with all my might, I was trying to will that fish to your yak.  Gonna have to work on that skill because I wasn't successful.  Heartbreak city. :smt010

Thanks, Scott.  Thanks, all.

I think Jon's style is a lot different than mine...  I admit I've only looked at a bit of his stuff, and I could be wrong here, but I think he's the kind of mothershipper that we were referring to recently - NOT the envied and respected Islander type...  He also doesn't appear to be getting much of the footage by himself.

Where I feel really fortunate is in the fact that I have an ecosystem up here where I can tap into some big fish, and that's the real draw when you look at BWJ's stuff - the fish.  I want the draw for my stuff to also be the individualistic thing - out there solo, filming it myself, experiencing something that others admire for how I make it happen and how I embrace the experience.

I wouldn't have a studly-looking, tan helper-man hold my kayak as I try to stand up, and I'd be embarrassed to be videoing it.  Sorry, Jon, it's that "dyed-in-the-wool" pride leaking out of me again.   :smt003  Good on you though for the humility to show that to everyone.

I'll be contemplating this as I make more videos.   :smt001

Hey, Z - why don't you pitch me a website deal.  I've got a little money around.  Maybe selling videos on the web is my calling!   :smt002

Great job abking It looked like you had a blast even know it was not a salmon you gave it one hell of a try for the short season that you could fish for salmon in your area . The vedio that you put with all of your post are great. I felt like i was there with you. I hope to meet up with you this year on the north coast.

Keep it up                                             (squidly) JIM RICKER

I think it was a ling, Art.  I've caught plenty of lings at 21 pulls, and it stayed on the bottom like a ling would.  Also the fact that I caught the little ling immediately afterward...  Didn't feel like a salmon - even how it was taking out drag was more lingish.  QUIT GIVING ME SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT A HUGE F%$#ING SALMON!!!!    :smt003

...and I like the clicker, guys!   :smt002
