I dont see how talking about it could do any harm, even though i must admit to being on the side of "if its legal, and you dont like it, dont do it... dont tread on me!"  I dont feel as though we should have to explain ourselves as long as the law is on our side.  However, i can also admit that as a collective whole, we have a louder voice when we speak as one.

Did you read the story about the woman in Arizona who changed her last name to FishingHurts ? She wanted FishingHurts.com but the judge turned that request down. And, yes, she's a veggan member of PETA.

When I see the word manifesto, I start looking around for Ted Kaczynski, Groucho Marx, and his brother Karl.

Okay, I'll drop the subject about a kayak fishing "Manifesto".  Sometimes I simply think too much.  Apologies for the "threadjack".   :smt001

I'm ashamed about this fool from Flagstaff, where this idiot is from and where I moved here from. We had a name for folks like this when I was there. They were called "trustafarians", basically trust fund hippies that need something to do. I loved fishing in that area and I'll note that Flagstaff had a strange mix of both extreme hippies, right wing fundamentalists, and outdoorsmen of every kind ranging from hunters to fishermen, to mountain bikers, to backpackers. It was a cool place to live and people like Ms. Fishinghurts made it entertaining.  :hippy2:

OK guys....down in Florida the catch and release Goliath Gruoper.  You can not even take them out of the water anymore to take a pic.  Why because catch and release does cause harm to the fish.

Duck hunting is a lot harder than fishing because you have to know what you are shooting at before it hits the water.

Wake up guys,  there maybe no ocean salmon season and who knows about rockcod.  Like, other people have said....when you post on the web...you are talking to everyone.

Salmon, trout and steelhead are just about killed when you get them in a net, on the deck or in your hands.

Have you ever been on a party boat with undersize salmon.  Make your heart sick.  You kill 20 to 30 salmon to get the legal one.  I blamed the DFG on this because if they made the rule of the "2 fish limit---no size" then I think most guys would have obey.

I like the small salmon for the BBQ and the big one for the smoker.

"Coastside" don't even brag about 20 stripers in a day because they already know it is bad for our sport.

Nice talking to you guys...but, I need to be fishing.

OK Ken now your are making some sense Gotta agree with you on the Party Boats it should be the first 2 and get rid of the Boat Limit Rule.

As far as Salmon,Trout and Steelies I'm with you on that one also I don't net the fish unless I intend to keep it and if it's a choice between the fish's survival and a photo I vote for the fish.I cringe when I see a trout or steelie being held up or laying in a yak for a photo.
When I fish for Steelies I only use a net when I am going to keep it. I try and paddle to shore and lead the fish to a beach where I don't have to handle the fish too much, if I can't do that I release along side the boat and forgo the pict.

AS far as the bass I think they were made to catch and release, in most waters they are non native and survive pretty well, but we need to handle them gently and show that in our pictures. On Coastside they do brag about their fish but it seems like they don't because they don't post as many pictures something to think about.

Duck Hunting you must be joking here although I admit it is harder to shoot your first duck than catch your first fish. Once you become proficient I think fishing is more difficult. Beside once you pull the trigger the hunt is over ducks don't fight real well.

And Since I am ranting I think Gifting of fish shouldn't be talked about, unless you are giving it to Chuck to fry up. If you are not going to keep fish nothing wrong with barbless hooks and power Bait should be illegal except for privately managed waters. Non kayak reports should be kept to a minimum, maybe have a separate section.

That said Kayak fishing is the most challenging type of fishing I have ever done and we deserve to be proud of what we catch. I could catch a lot more fish with other methods but catching or not catching out of my yak is much more rewarding.

Just my 2 cents.

Is there a law against giving your fish to a friend?

Nope,

Mickfish....you have not done a lot of fishing.  Yak fishing is easy for me.  Maybe because of my years on the ocean.

Try going big game fishing and you will see that this is nothing.

I guess you are not a duck hunter and don't know the first thing about it.

And, like I said "Just say you got your limit"....it does not impress no one but people not on our board.

You guys think we are talking to just our group.  But, look at the shark attack on our board.  It made hits on our board from around the world.

I'm a PROUD and HONORED NCKA member now for 2 years......i can only remember ONE pic/post from a Trout pond?  on powerbait?....and really can't recall a usefull quote or post from you(catching a boat-load of tuna is something Coastside would love) ....this site is for Happy People who angle, hunt and dive from a kayak and want to share it with others in a POSITIVE WAY....even those who are KAYAKLESS, are attracted to the kindness and willingness to SHARE with complete stranger, member or not!
You seem to enjoy starting SHIT, then watching everyone REACT to your ? (likeIamNOW!)
I don't desire to fish with or meet you EVER...I'MjustKEEPINitREALbro!
...now isn't there some CATFISH in the Forebay that needs catching?
