Does that mean it lasts for 15 seconds and you don't have a clue what's going on?

Boredom is a relative thing... but I'd say it is on the same plane as ice fishing.

I like to think of it as "Therapeutic".

I was listening to some Hunters talk about hunting White Tail deer in the South East....

All Day in a blind, no talking, can't even take a "Leak" because they would smell it, and cold....

 That sounds miserable,

Most of my Sturgeon days have been very pleasant/peaceful experiences,

And I do that anytime to beat the " Rut " I'm in Now :busy :smt075

It like been at the World Chess Championship.....don't ask me...I hate the game.  But, I also hate golf, bowling (on TV) and basketball.  I like playing b-ball...but, cannot watch unless it is the Final Four or NBA Championship.  Waiting for the paint to peel.

Bring plenty of FOOD and don't tell anyone your on Jenny Craig..... :smt002

I've found sturgeon fishing off a PB to be much less boring because there are people to talk to and it's easy to take a wizz, allowing for much greater beer consumption.  Rafting up several kayaks might help on both counts. ;)
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Sturgeon fishing isn't for everybody. It's really boring. It can be very miserable out there. It's just plain tough to just sit there for hours on end for that one pump that may not come... but, once you hook into one. All those hours are forgotten.

You guys can always come sturgeon fishing up here on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.  Right now there's lots of action to be had in downtown Portland, but you may have to catch 10 or so shakers before getting that legal fish.  Some boats are reporting as many as 30+ shakers in a day.... (shh, don't tell anyone about all the "boosting poochers" up here.)

Actually, in OR and WA you are allowed to continue fishing for sturgeon after you take your limit of 1 fish per day.  It's a special rule for sturgeon only.  We even have a large C&R fishery for oversized sturgeon.

I happen to like sturgeon fishing because it's fishing  :smt007 I can think of worse things to do
as for the boredom just bring lot's of beer and a radio.

to keep warm I put X-large hand warmers in my boots 2 pairs of thermals
a good wicking shirt helps to + I stuff a big hoode in a bag under the haul
just in case it gets to cold and some waterproof gloves :smt004

As for the radio it don't scare the fish away because mine was hanging on the rod holder
when I got my sturgeon at oakland airport and Ozzy Osborne crazy train was on  :metal
so don't play into that it's just not true. :smt044
