Has anyone launched Baker Beach and fished for Halibut and Salmon.  Normaly after the Salmon go through Linda Mar and Muscle the head right into the Bay of Baker Beach.  I have always watched the the small PB fish for them but never a yak.  I would be interested in trying this in Late July or early August.  There are also some rockfish areas nearby as well.  When Seal Rock goes off which it has of late for Halibut Baker usually gets a good run later that month.

I haven't but I plan to this year. If you time the tides proper it would be an easy ride out to seal rock. Or, I might just jump off of ocean beach,

I also want to do Fort Baker to the Potato Patch...that'll will really take the right day though. Its a lot more of a chop field out there.

I've launched from Baker's Beach and it's quite doable if the waves aren't big. It's easy to park close to the beach.
What might be better is launching from China Beach. It's to the left of Baker's by the cliff. It's a long steep road from the parking lot and you'll definately need a set of wheels. However, the waves are MUCH smaller and your much closer to Seal Rock and the Halibut hole next to it. Also, there's this manmade tower and rockfish, cabs, and lings all over the place.
Let me know when you're going, i'm down.

Have any of you guys seen boats hanging around baker yet.  Usually August is when it all begins as the salmon begin to head through the gate.
