Well, I just finished installing my RAM mount for my FF, the FF, its transducer, my Anchor trolley and eyelet for drive leash, a few extra little eyelets for whatever.  6hr of drilling, sorting SS panhead screws, nuts washers, cable ties.  No pictures yet, (Got tired) I'll shoot some tomorrow.
I really like the RAM mount for my FF.  I always thought these things were made out of plastic.  I was wrong.  Very sturdily built.
I choose to use silicon to glue transducer in place again.  Towards the front. This time I decided to help hold transducer in the puddle of silicon with its metal mount up against the sail mast tube. I used a few cable ties to bind the metal bracket up to the mast tube.  Once the tranny was mushed into the silicon the bracket held it firmly in contact with hull.
The extra transducer cable is wound up and cable tied tightly and stuffed up behind the mast tube neatly out of the way!  My battery box for now will simply lay in the front and the cord of the pelican box will tie up to the mast tube to hold it in place.  I'll need a more out of the way  place for it later but for now I can live with its location.

Ok here are a few shots of what I installed yesterday.  Nothing fancy.

This is the transducer, and how I used its bracket to help hold it in place.  I'll remove the bracket when the silicon has cured fully.

The RAM mount.  I put the FF away last night.

Front bungi cord.  I really like having this up front.  It helps secure the drive when I come in.

and what I did with the extra bunch of transducer cable.

The front anchor trolly pully.

And my 20" telescope up at Yosemity, Glacier point.  (Just because it was next to my kayak pictures!

Well, I've decided to redo the way I anchor my FF's transducer to the hull.  I purchased the required stuff a while ago, but choose to do the glue method instead.  Well after the Loch opener, I wasn't seeing any fish at all!  The FF display did show the bottom no problem, but other than that, nada.  I suspect that after pressing the transducer into the goob of silicon and adding the bracket to help hold it in place that the front of the transducer maybe lifted slightly. (As seen in the posted picture)
I haven't verified this yet.  I'll be gluing in a 3" PVC end,(Forming it to the hull and with marine goop attaching it to hull) and attaching the transducer to a "Fernco" rubber cap.  Adding water each time I launch.  I think this approach is the best option to ensure I have a good signal return.  It's bottom surface has been pretty beat up after 4 removals and installs.  The bottom is scrapped up pretty good.  Not completely sure the scrapes will have any effect on it's ability to operate though.
I've seen a few posts of installs using this "wet" method, and I've been to lazy to actually do the work to install the stuff.
I want my FF to operate at it's best.  I'll start this operation this comming weekend.
  Photos will likely follow.

You know, since I used that method my signals are super accurate. I changed my FF to a Humminbird and it got even more detailed. Only problen is I sometimes forget to refill the water in the trans. pool noodle thingy and have to do it on the water. :smt044 The way to go IMHO.

Yeah ,I think so as well.  "Been there done that" with the gluing, time for something new & better!  I'm sure I'll forget to fill the transducer cup a few times as well!

Well, I wanted to start the work on remounting my FF transducer, but I can't locate the fernco cap and PVC end piece I got a while ago for this!  Led me to completely cleanout my smaller storage shed, looking for the pieces, never did find them.  Tore up my larger storage shed out back, again, couldn't locate the pieces.
I wouldn't have tossed them out, but there not where I can find them currently!.
looks like I'll be purchasing the 2 pieces again.

You might want to go w/ the pool noodle jp. It's super cheap and gets the trans super snug. I've used my yak 10+ times and water hasn't even escaped from under the trans.

BTW I put on a scotty mount for my downrigger on the Outback the other day and almost made a big mistake. I put it on the right side tray behind the seat. I tested to see if I could reach through the rear hatch to tighten the bolts and thought it was a done deal. Turned out it was further than I thought. Had do go super yoga on the bastard and after 20 min finally got all the bolts down snug. :P

Same here...the pool noodle holds the water even when the yak is upside down on my truck.  Just remember to top it off before you hit the water, like Z said.  :smt101

Here's my setup:

And more pics from last year, because I don't think I ever posted them:

I'm working on my anchor trolley now, and the next step is to install a better rod-holding system.  And then paint the bottom so it looks as cool as Etienne's yak!  :smt003

Unless I have completely lost my mind, which is entirely possible, it looks good on my end.  Very nice set-up Usagi.

Do you mean up front or attached to your Plano Marine Box?  Because it looks like I've got the same one as you - the 1812 big boy and not the medium sized 1612 that only fits in the Ocean Kayaks.  Anyhoo, I went with individual attachments instead of the three that are linked together and it allowed me to get another holder on the box.

I've got the week after next off so hopefull I can complete my "Rigged Adventure" write-up with pictures.

Man you guys have done some nice things to your OBs.  The OB is my choice for a second yak and If I'm ever able to get, there will be a whole lot of copying going on.

Usagi, is your compass electronic.  From the inside-the-hatch-photo, it didn't look to be.  I haven't been able to find any compases like yours that aren't.  Mind sharing where you got it?

I will get them soon but I've misplaced the cam for now. Between remodeling my office, kitchen, and fishing I haven't been able to find it.
