Dino Hunt 01-30-08

Okay...guys.  Here are a couple pics.  Stay tuned for some cool video.

Glad to hear that you guys got to use that intel, it was more of a "should have been here yesterday" (oh wait we were) for us.  We hit up same spot as yesterday, then moved up to sonoma area, then back out to deeper darker water-- result was one 36"er.

Thanks to SteveS for the hot tip.  We couldn't pass it up when Steve told me that he and Warren landed 4 dinos (1 legal, 2 oversized, and 1 under) the previous day.  It was a gorgeous day with unbelievable flat greasy water all day long.  It was even calm enough for me to take a snooze with my rod and line in hand.

For me... it just wasn't meant to be.  I got one dino pump all day long ,and when I swung for the hookset, the line pops -- not near the weight where you might expect frayed line, but all the way up near my rod tip.  Damn it!

When Freddie hooked up and started on his sleigh ride, I was so tempted to keep fishing, knowing there had to be more fish in the area.  But, I just couldn't pass up to the opportunity to follow Freddie and take some rare video and pics.

I took several video clips and can't wait to edit and upload them.  It'll be a text book video tutorial on how to fight and land a dino from a yak.... with the exception of a couple botched snare attempts. 

But in the end... all that matters is that Freddie landed it and I was there to see it.

so sorry you missed that fish...i'm looking to try again tomorrow-- wet butt fishing this time (hoping for my sturgie entry into the AOTY derby). Slight correction too- we boat released three (never touched the deck, jsut reached over eyeballed the measurement- biggies are easy, took the hook out), and long distance released the fourth...

The bankies have been landing fish around china camp fairly regular (right KayakJack??), i've been doing the long drive to work (when i've been at work, gotta love a blackberry!).  Don't count out the weak tides- we landed ours on nearly zero curent, and i think Freddie/chuck's were same.
