No need to worry about grills if Scott brings his portable gas grill.  That thing is AMAZING!  I was fortunate enough to experience what it's capable of a couple weeks ago at Del Valle - AWESOME!

I wore out my first webber gas grill, the wooden handle finally gave up,and teh metal "flavor saver" inside was disintergrating so I replaced it. (It lasted almost 10yrs of hard off-road use while jeeping)  I brought mine to the 1st annual Chilling at Del valle campout back in Oct.  Not sure what brand his is, but I'd use it over the park grill anyday!

Troy -

It's a Coleman and at $45 from Walmart.com, I am impressed. Cast iron grates and fairly even heat distributuon fo a single burner. I will bring it to LL. We can also head up to the north end where there is also a nice picnick table on the east bank and a lot more privacy, just in case some brings a keg.  :smt005

Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh Cast Iron grates are sweeet  :smt007  Sounds like I may have to get one of them!  Bought a cheapo gas grill for the 4th of July last year.  Was hoping it would make it maybe a year or so, and then I would buy a real one.  Unfortunately it didn't last one day.  But not because of its construction.  NOPE, I had to carry way too many things back to the car from Davenport beach, and while walking up the last part of the path, next to the barn, kinda crappy rocky steps to the parking lot...  I fell, with arms loaded and nothing to stop me buy my knee cap which I busted in two(and only recently feels finally healed). Grill just smashed to pieces  :smt009, and I laid there for 20 mins before someone came by to help.  Fun :)

is this the grill your talking about?
http://www.backcountry.com/store/group/100000025/b100000361/Coleman-Campground-Stoves.html?CMP_ID=PD_YAH001&CP=Yahoo&CMP=KNC-Yahoo&mv_pc=r106&gcid=S2000x126&keyword=Coleman+Gas+Grill&s_kwcid=TC-2349-164670984011-S-19767461511&OVRAW=coleman%20gas%20grill&OVKEY=coleman%20gas%20grill&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=19767461511&OVKWID=164670984011

If so it looks like a sweet, compact little unit!  My (portable) webber gas grill is somewhat bulky, for it's small size, I usually leave it in it's orignal box when packing to camp, (Packs nicer and things don't get greasy!)

Actually this is the one I have. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3657605 Price is up to $51.96 but shipping is free. I believe REI also sells it but it was more expensive. It kind of fits in my prowler tankwell but one side is on the deck. In my Trident, I can put it in the hull through the rod pod. The cast iron grill is really nice and you can put it in the dishwasher. It is hot enough to put a pot of chili on it and bring it to a boil.

That's the same one I have but mine is half grill and half regular burner. Pretty nice when only cooking for a couple people. Yours is better for cooking for queing for larger groups. Nice little grills.

I like that one! It's like their camp stove but a BBQ!  It is definitely slimmer than my Webber and looks like it has a little bigger cook surface.  Again I'd choose that one over the parks public picnic grill!

Yeah, I think the 3rd sounds like the best option, if you can get off work.  Just put in my time off request.  Might skip the 1st now to keep some WAF points available....

I put in my request as soon as I saw this thread. I'm so jazzed. Oh and ya...WAF might suffer a bit if you go on Saturday and Monday. The same thought crossed my mind...
