9 footer!     yeah, that's a bummer, but the guy's doing it "professionally" and should know better.  I'd put my hand down it's throat if I had knowledge of its habits and abilities and felt confident that I'd see my hand again.

  Reads like the skipper bypassed the jaws to help the guy out!  I'm thinking Smart move on his part.
