My 2 cents,

Rain may knock some food into the water, most live bugs would have no problem with rain, but I still gotta think that rain would knock something into the water that might not be there on a dry day. Worms come out from under foilage during the rain and may get washed into a stream. So when it rains the trout (as well as other species)  may get a little more active in looking for that extra food.

Just a thought.

Plus that Irish coffee or bota bag of goldschlaeger taste so good in the rain.

are we talking about catching fish, or a buzz... personally i like blackberry brandy in the cold!
