And for the first time ever a woman leads the AOTY board....
I guess it's a good thing we didn't call it "Fisherman of the year".

Congrats Melissa.

BTW, where can I get a pair of those "savage fishing shorts"?  You guys should start a line of fishing clothing.

and a new Baidarka rod.

Melissa/Freddie/ChuckE,

Minor thread jack - which one did you/she end up getting?  I ask only because I ended up getting the BK-C-761M in hopes that it could be used for other species, such as sturgeon.

Adam-

Yup, that's for sure. Melissa set the bar pretty high. She had great mojo yesterday that's for sure. After she landed it, she didn't want anything to do with it... at least for another 365 days. She also mentioned how she sensed "tension" in my voice as I was instructing her how to play out the fish and land it. I wish I had my camera on the water with me... she almost dumped it not once, not twice but three times. It got really bad at one point. I thought the fish was going to pull her in at one point. But, she got scared and handled it pretty good. I think she's done on the sturgeon front this year. Her arm is still pretty sore. After the excitement ended... she felt the pain in a big way. It's all good thought... I love that feeling... Whaaa... I want to feel that feeling too... maybe next time.

Michael-

She picked up the BK-C-761ML... I think it's a little lighter than the one you picked up. I was pretty amazed with the action on that thing while Melissa fought her fish. It took a lot of pressure and held up pretty good. I saw this rod get bent completely under her yak a couple of times. At one point, she started to scream that her rod was going to break. I told her it wouldn't and she was fine with that. It had enough backbone to manipulate the fish too. Not a bad rod. I didn't want a rod with heavier action for her. IMO... a meat stick doesn't really help on a kayak. I think this rod is a good all around rod. I can't think of a fish she can't catch with this rod. I may even pick one up myself.

Tight Lines,

Freddie

You're killing me man... first at BAM and now this...

"Dude! my arm(top-forearm) gets sore and stays that way for a couple of days, on small fish!"

What kind of a bomb are you going to drop on me next. No sore arms allowed around here.  :smt001

Freddie,

So as to not take any (more) glory away from Melissa by threadjacking, I PMd you a question regarding her rod.
