FYI

Just a side note EBMUD is doing boat inspections, checking live well, anchor locker and bilges. Not to complicated but I did have to take the boat cover off at the guard shack.

Adam and PatR - you guys fish there regularly. I have launched from the boat launch and the rec area and have no preference. The rec area will have shore anglers to dodge in and out and the boat launc will have a lot of traffic. Your thoughts and any other folks ideas would be appreciated.

Friday should be not that bad with the bankies, just a haul to and from the lot, to the water. This choice will put us in the Center of lake where the water will be clearest and deepest. There are a few tables/bbq stands where we could park our yaks on the BigGrassField(not having to pull them up-hill during lunch break)
There are more tables in the SnackBar area, with vending machines and bait/tackle.

the other option is to launch at the boatlauch/Orinda side. All the boats for the day will be flying past us to get to the center lake. It is shallower with a channel right in the dead middle of lake. More paddling in Non-Fishy waters.

I say we meet at the Main Rec.Area (El Sobrante side) this area is very visable from the water and will put us in the best water quickest! IMHO

Don't know if it affects kayaks but I saw this on Coastside.

If you are from Santa Clara or San Benito counties don't bother taking your boat to Pardee or the other EBMUD lakes. Due to the zebra mussels found at Lake Justo they have banned boats from those counties at EBMUD lakes.

I've got the day off from work and I plan on being there as early as they will possibly let me. I've only fished this lake a few times before and have only gotten lucky with a few random LM bass, but I'm hoping that the trout trolling techniques I've been using at Del Valle will work at San Pablo too. See you next Friday!  :smt006

All right here is the plan...

The park opens at 8, I will probably get there around 5-6 AM. We will launch from the rec area (bring wheels) and have a man dog shore lunch at Scow canyon at 2 PM. If folks want to have a MBF or AOTD, let me know. I will be targeting trout, but LMB fishing should be decent.

SAN PABLO BOATT LAUNCH IS OPEN THURSDAYS THROUGH
SUNDAYS ONLY AND HOLIIDAYS
8:00AM—CLOSING

ALL BOATERS WILL BE REQUIIRED TO FILL OUT A SURVEY AND HAVE THEIR BOATS, TRAILERS AND EQUIIPMENT INSPECTED BY EBMUD STAFF

Any boats that have been in reservoirs identified to be infested with quagga or zebra mussels within the past 30 days will not be allowed on the reservoir. Failure to comply with the survey and inspection will result in revocation of boating permit and you may be
subject to citation and/or eviction.

that is the plan.....and i think they will be open earlier than that(in the past open time changes along when the sunrise time changes) by then it should be open at 6:oo

and there are tables up in the treeline at the mouth of ScowCayon (ithink)

I'll be there!

I suspect the boat inspections will occur only at the launch ramp, meaning we will either escape without inspection or there will be a substantial delay while someone from the Main Rec area calls the boat launch area and tells them to come back to the Main Rec area to inspect some kayaks etc etc.

Please.....excuse my newbie ignorance........whats an MBF........or an AOTD..........? :smt017

MBF - Money Between Friends
AOTD - Angler Of The Day

It's amazing how quickly you'll learn the acronyms.

More likely they will send you up to the ramp to be inspected :smt013
