two minutes after I dropped anchor then it would turn into four foot wind waves crashing over the side of my yak and 20MPH winds blowing directly from the direction I need to paddle back in.

Sean knows what I'm talking about...

That was a BEOTCH of a day.  I was towing Jelly with everything a I had and your little Caper was getting thrashed!  Remember how much water we drained out of that boat...GALLONS and that was after you pumped it!  I was exhausted.

Jack-we normally hit Loc Lomond in SR...its on the way and a legendary spot.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

i can't do sat, but will be out there sunday.

my opinion the only places to be really worried about the big tides are around rat rock, the channel, the sisters, etc. As long as you have enough rope for your anchor it should hold just fine- 7 to 1 at least ( 7 feet for each 1 foot depth).  I usually run closer to 10 to 1...
you got NW winds on sat - so outgo will be ripping, if it was NE then there would be some really big standing waves in the currents.
Definitely don't tie yourself to your boat!

Jack-it is in San Rafael on the docks at Loc Lomond.

world's greatest bait shop-- on san pedro rd (exit 101 on central san rafael, head east on 3rd, which turns in san pedro), then right turn into loch lomond marina.

If you are earlier than 7am, then Western Boat-- which is on the right about three blocks down after you make your left off 101 onto 3rd...

Hey Guys,

Did we reach some kind of consensus on a launch time?  I think LL opens at seven, so I was planning on being on the water by 7:30-8:00.  Anyone launching at the "nice-and-easy-no-cart-needed" Bullhead?  I'll be on 69 if I don't see any of you...

OK, I am in. I'll load my boat on my truck tonight and hit Loch Lomond on the way. I need some new hooks/leaders, will the bait shop at LL have what I need?

What time are people planning on hitting the bait shop? Or is the plan to meet at Bullhead or China Camp? I am flexible on this, but to meet at the baitshop would be nice so I'll know exactly where to put in.

I drive a blue Honda Ridgeline and paddle an Olive P15 Trident.

Look forward to meeting you guys,

 Chris

PS I was in Sausalito today and the bay looked fairly calm at 2 in the afternoon.

Scwafish and I are carpooling down.  We'll leave my house at 8:30 ish and should be launching by 9:30 ish at China Camp proper.

High tide is around 10:00, so we should have time to get positioned and fish the outgoing tide.

We'll probably try to get off the water no later than 3:00 or so to prevent mud fest.

I talked to Keith Fraser at Loch Lomond and he's getting fresh ghost shrimp in this afternoon.  Nummy!

See you in the AM.

I want to go too, but I'll be fighting the fishheads at the SF airport while I'm picking up my kid for Christmas.

Have fun and be safe.

CHEERS!

Hey Chris... I should be at Bullhead around 7:30.

Hey Erik... have you had more success with ghost or grass shrimp?  I haven't caught jack on ghosties...

Anyway, looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.
