1/19 and 1/20 might work for me also. My son and I were talking about it the other day. PLUS, I now have a yak  :smt044 I know that in the summer time you jig for them or put out a minnow trap and get some minnows, and put them out on a drop shot. And in the winter time they are shallow. (What do you use?) Keep us up to date :smt006

Info on this will be very helpful.  I'll be up there in February (President's week).  I'll post a hookup once I know our dates.  Anyone up for a skiing/fishing combo?  We stay pretty near Heavenly, and I hope to fish at Bliss again unless there's word of better opportunities elsewhere...

I'm interested. I live in Roseville which is right on I80 on the way. The big sportmans show is the weekend of 1-18-08. I'm curious what they will have regarding kayak fishing.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

Chuck -

Big Blue can get hairy in the winter but on a good day it is petty awesome. If you want to give it a try we can carpool.

As long as the wind is down Tahoe is no prob IF you can handle the cold.
The roughest conditions I have ever had to contend with was at Tahoe. It put the Mavericks to shame.
You will have a hard time finding a place to launch at South Shore.
There are a few places along the west shore and north shore.
Forget about DL Bliss and he usual CA state parks.
North shore at Coon Street, east shore at Cave Rock are both doable no matter what time of year. Park along side the road at Sunnyside on the west shore.
Dress warm and be prepared to call it a day before you even launch depending on conditions. No need to be stupid when it is that cold.
I am IN whenever you want to go.
Just holler.

Hold the horses :smt005 Amphibian is right. That weekend is the "International Sportsman Expo" at Cal-Expo. The last couple of times I have gone there was a lot of fun this to do and buy for fishing and all. Every year my son and I have gone for many years together. Will have to back out at this time. :smt006

One of my neighbors in South Lake Tahoe published a book about kayaking and kayak fishing Lake Tahoe.  I bought the book for about $12. and thought it was well worth the money.  There is a lot of unofficial, local info about access, launch sites, parking, camping etc.  He kayaks year round.  I don't have an address or phone number but his name is Don Sullivan and his email is [email protected].

Good luck,

Doug

I think I’m going to pass on this one.  Sometimes when that little voice starts talking, I gotta listen.  Thanks anyway

I'll pm those who posted interest. This isn't a trip I am going to plan far in advance for an exact date because of the weather issue. It's supposed to be reach a high temp of 30 today up there. =)
