Rule #11 - ... (if you don't know what a 'troll' is, it means you probably are one).

Damnit, guess I'm a troll. :smt012  :smt009   But if I don't enter then I'm in the clear, right?

Here's the full URL for the fish measuring.
http://floridafisheries.com/Fishes/measure.html

The only trick here is that pinching the tail together and taking a good photo at the same time all by yourself is nearly impossible.

thanks for linking that properly Brian!   :smt006
if we could just get the things flat and their MOUTHS SHUT, it would clean up a potential 3"+ per "ill-measured" fish (X10)species!!
lets all try WALKING together, before we RUN together (or into EACH OTHER) :smt062 :smt075

we could work on the tail-bunching next year! :smt044

The FWC site shows overall length. I've always used "fork" length, which does not need the tail to be pinched. Just a thought...

Fork length could work, but since the rules don't specify which length to use, total length is where it's at for the most points.  A lot of fisheries studies use fork length because it seems to do a better job of estimating actual body mass.   For example a bigger fish with a clipped tail might have the same total length as a smaller fish, but it would likely still have a larger fork length.

So, if everyone else would kindly go back and measure fork length as Scott suggests I really wouldn't mind.

Cool, Sean!   :smt001

So shut mouth and pinched tail looks like the way to go - is that mentioned in our rules?  Has it been discussed before here?  I didn't used to look at "Show unread posts since last visit"...

Thanks

Kudos to GWKC for stepping up and making that happen.  I was on the fence about signing up because I don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning, but I could use one of these things.  Sounds like a foolish reason to join, I know, but I'm also supporting a good cause.

Ok, so I sent Bill my $40, the chance of me winning anything is pretty remote with the way I fish,

BUT,

OHHhhhh to be part of it all!!!  :smt002
