Capitola Report

What’s up guys, just wanted to share I went out of Capitola this last Sunday 7/12/26 and wanted to share my intel. The whole fleet was inside 40-60FT due to the salmon being close to shore last weekend. I drifted mackerel in 40 FT on the edge of the kelp of East Cliff in search of WSB and Halibut. Ended up with a limit of 2 30+ inch lings. Nothing hit my squid, or flashers. PSA! We all know they are out there but at about 10AM I was fishing the literal edge of the kelp in front of the point directly, had just bled my ling 5 minutes prior and had about an 8-10 FT juvenile GW shark breach about 20 feet from my kayak. Shark week style flip bro, got me pretty good! Be safe out there! Gonna try for WSB this weekend again, hmu!

What’s up dude, uh as of right now Saturday morning looks better, tide isn’t great. But, if I go out I think I’m literally just gonna sit in the kelp windows and jig for WSB for a couple hours if you’re down. Always fun with another person. I saw some really nice marks last week in a few areas of the kelp, but I only was drifting/ trolling outside..

Heavyyy!!!! I know man, that was a first for me. I have surfed with em, dove with em, fished with em, but never seen one blow up out of the water next to me. That was a shiesty scenario. I caught one more and left.. haha!

Yea man forsure, if I go out Saturday which I intend to, it would be between 6:00AM-6:30AM on right of the pier in Capitola, beach launch. And park up the hill. All are welcome, yeew.
