I’m about to retire.  Doing inventory on my things.

I love fishing big time and expect to fish more often.  I will surf fish and hike/wade river systems to find fishing spots as well as kayak.  Fresh and salt.  Hiking lets me hang with my dog.
I also love to cook.  That’s easy. My wife will remain in the workforce, so I plan on meeting her at the door with awesome home cooked meals.

Here my list starts to dry up.
Adding foraging. I want to eat a limpet. Haha.

And gravel bike trips.  I mountain bike, but all my friends bought e-mountain bikes and I simply cannot keep up with them. I’m solo now.   So since I’m solo, I may as well try a gravel bike.  There are gravel rides where you camp. Full van support with cooked meals and longass scenic trips.  Sounds interesting. I may join my sisters ex husband on a trip or two. Should be interesting. He has the VO2 max of a timber wolf.

That’s it.  You?

I'm a jack of all activities/master of none.
I do some non-assist mountain biking - I'm not fast or very technical but work through rides of 8 to 24 miles with elevation gains of 400 to 2000 ft or so. Gravel bikes are kind of intriguing but I like the more upright geometry and cushion of a MTB.

I do some Adventure motorcycle riding including ride-n-fish rides where I bring a fly rod along. I recently "downgraded" from a BMW F700GS to a CFMoto Ibex 450. It's lighter and slower but more off-road capable and I'm really liking it. I hated the "oh shit!" feeling of carrying too much weight and speed into a turn. Too old for that.

I do some fly-fishing but not much anymore.

I also downhill ski, but didn't last year - waited for a spring season, which was a mistake.

I do a little bit of trail running with the dog - 2.4 miles/400ft gain is my standard loop.

But Mabel can't ski or moto or MTB so I end up doing the kayak fishing thing the most. And I just like it the most.

Also I keep fish and other critters - recently breeding threatened Spotted Turtles.

Also I'm a landscape architect with multiple awards/magazine covers under my belt, and that is still pretty interesting and sort of pays.

Do you have space to garden? Even if you don't, you can find community plots to garden. Especially since you said you like to cook. Once you start to grow, then cook your own food, it becomes very satisfying. Like bringing home fish to eat, food tastes better when you grow it yourself.

Besides working on my plans for complete and total world domination, which I find very cathartic ….in no particular order:

Still work out , but limited balance/rom with the fusion and titanium in my spine

Garden/ landscape cause it teaches life lessons ..always learning

Family history but not necessarily on ancestry but will probably end up there

Hike but not as much

Used to ski but lost my balance and strength when the back injury happened

Enjoy good Irish whiskey, Scotch whisky

Learn and try to cook mostly Northern Italian style and Mediterranean style dishes

And continue to evolve into a chill individual

Oh and of course long walks  hand in hand on a moonlit beach with my mijo Alex/Bulldog

Thank you Mijo. Miss you to.  :smt006

Now that i have finally retired. I have been catching up on repairs and upgrades around the yard, house, boats and kayaks.

I have a small starter garden of tomatoes, zuchini and chiles.

I am also looking into miniature/dwarf fruit and nut trees, as well as plants that will attract bees for pollination

Hiking, but multiple rounds of chemo have limited my ability, and now even the slightest inclines kick my ass.

Also, I think there’s a pretty big thread from back in the day asking the same question. Might be cool to dig it up.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Best wishes my brother. My wife has been through chemo/radiation for a year now. She is doing well.

Besides working on my business and working on terrorizing fish... not much else, i'm a 2 track mind

The campaign of terror against the fish has evolved through the years. I got really into bass for a few years, and I got really into clamming for a while. Clamming kinda sucks and I'm allergic to shellfish so what was that all about

I did build a 14' boat from scratch, and put so much work into a 17ft center console that it became the center console of theseus. Eventually the engine failed in such an epic way at the ramp that I recreated the Exxon Valdez incident and I had an epiphany that I liked fishing way more than I liked working on fishing boats, and the ratio of working on the boat to fishing on the boat was more trouble than it was worth.

I also got into Rallycross racing for like a year. Racing cars on dirt on a impromptu track that looks like a bunch of Z's and W's all strung together. Truly a blast, but all motorsports is like 3 months of hard work and stress for like an hour of bliss, and no matter how much work or money you put into bulletproofing your car against a breakdown, the breakdown fairy appears with a novel, unforseen, and far more effective bullet.  I retired my '89 Nissan Sedan from rallying and use it as a kayak carrier.

I also kinda like guns

When not sailing/fishing on my AI, I'm usually working on some crazy idea to make it a better sailing/fishing vessel.

This thread reminded me how much I like playing disc golf, in spite of not having played in a while (and in spite of being a less-than mediocre player).
