Since I didn’t connect with any halibut in SC yesterday, I decided to not unload the car and try a morning session at ARW. Beautiful morning weather so I left the wetsuit in the car and went in shorts.
The tide tables as I read them showed the low at around 9, but it seamed already pretty slack when I launched around 7:20. I trolled a couple passes with an A-rig past what looked like a good school of stripers but got no takers.
I bounced past the end of the second wall and then the incoming started pretty strong around 8:45 and I bounced back . Since the large tides had the water pretty discolored, I used a flashy dodger but it didn’t do me any good. I got one bouncy bite around 10:30 in shallow water but it could have been a shark. One guy on the radio claimed a limit of both Hali and stripers but I heard others had no bites. Maybe live bait was the ticket. I was off the water by 11:30. Beautiful day with lots of people on SUPs, etc.

Thanks for the report.

I'm impressed that you have the energy for 2 days in a row. Today was my recovery day, and hoping to get OTW again tomorrow...

Two day-ers are no joke.
Kudos to your fitness.

The bite on the west side was all shakers for me.
Should be a great season in two years 😂

When I was out last weekend, I got 1 keeper and 4 shakers with live topsmelt so live bait definitely seemed to be working. However, another kayaker trolling herring got his limits by 9ish, so trolling seemed to be working well too. Maybe it's the tide? It was a high tide around 10 am last weekend, so perhaps the low tide just wasn't favorable for the fish?
