For salmon fishing, the mouth of the Russian might be an easier place for tomorrow.

Launch behind Goat Rock and then a very short paddle to where the fish are stacked up waiting to go upriver.  PBers have been doing well there.

Interested?  Call me asap.  I'm stuck at work till 9 tonight.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks Mike.  BTW-we opened the mouth today.  The federally protected sitting ducks are now in the river.

Okay, I read all that and I understand the thinking.

However, with all due respect, I think about this differently.

Please don't slash my tires.  If you want to discuss it, you got my phone numbers.

For about a half mile out from the mouth it looked like a POO COCKTAIL.  The mighty Russian was shoving water into the ocean with a ton of force.  When I drove by, I saw no less than 30 people looking at the force that river was pushing.  The river was going so fast, that when the river hit the waves, it shot the water way up into the air.  Seeing the excavator dig the mouth open was cooooool  !!!!

I guess it's just a personal ethics decision. The fish are only sitting ducks because us humans have diverted the water from flowing down the river, so there they sit, waiting for a big storm or us to open the river back up so they can go make more fish for us to catch.

It's an easy one for me, but that's why I can sleep at night.

With all due respect......

CHEERS!

Mahi, did Scwafish write that for you.  That sounded like it came out of a national geographic mag. WOW...
And the reason you sleep at night is the 2-3 glasses of wine, not because you make good ethical decisions.  Remember who you have been working with since 1994....

Why doesn't the CDFG just close the area around the mouth?

I'd love to take a kayak ride through the surging opening!!!!

We have asked them to close it, and they are avoiding the closure as its a hot potato.  Similar closures exist elsewhere.  I will continue to work on it. It will happen eventually.

I have live in  Bodega Bay for 20 years now. When I first heard about the bad boyd at the river I went nuts. I couldnt believe it. But the one that thing about all that excitement wasnt worth the fact they tasted like crapola. What a waste! To me its not worth the time to take a few select fish that have basiclly already turned into river fish.
That made me realize that I was messing up and keeping a good fish down.

Leave them alone guys, figure it out!!!!!!!

Not to mention the returns on the Russian are SUCKING this year.  The lowest year in the past at this point 341, the high 2300...this year 60.  Hopefully they show soon!
