I'm looking for a thru hull wiring kit to run FF wires. I've used the Hobie kit in the  past, but it's over $30, and similar name-brand things are the same, or even higher priced. I came across a couple of cheapo versions, and was wondering if anybody has tried either of these. The reviews are good:

I've not used those, but I also didn't want to spend $$ on a kit.

I 3d printed a clamshell vent cover, drilled a hole just large enough to stuff my wire through, and fixed the wires and clamshell in place.  Then I crammed duct seal on the backside inside the hull, squishing it around the wires.

I've had it underway a few times like this, but not in saltwater, so can't really speak 100% to its effectiveness. I can't imagine it leaking enough to matter, if at all. This is also on a vertical surface, so it won't ever have water sitting on it, just washing over it when splashed.

I went ahead and ordered the cheapest wiring kit (just over $8), but if that doesn't work, I might try something similar to what you've done, as I've got a stainless clamshell very siimilar.

Btw, is that a Santa Cruz G2 kayak?

It's a G1 that I picked up from another member here. Needed some TLC, still working on getting it ocean ready, but she's very fast and pretty stable.

I thought the original was sit-inside, but that looks like SOT...

This one is a SOT - they made two versions of the G1 for a while, from what I understand.  I think the G1 SOT was paddle-only, and the G2 is the pedal drive compatible version.

I've purchased and used the Wilderness Systems Through Hull wiring Kit. It's taller and wider than the hobie through hull version. I found it to be too large for some of the spots I wanted to install it, so ended up going with the Hobie version. If you aren't trying to stick it into a tight spot, the quality looked great and I think they would be a good option.

I was just now rummaging thru some of my Hobie odds and ends, and discovered that I do actually have a used Hobie thru-hull wiring kit. So, when the cheapo noname thru-hull wiring kit arrives (any day now), I'll post a review comparing it to the Hobie version...

When I had my Outback, I used the Blue Seas Cable Clam.   Worked well.
