only 1 week to go - early indications are the weather should be great - highs in the 80's - looking forward to some great fishing, seeing people again, as well as the potluck!

See ya,
Brian.

So looking forward to finally getting out after my cancer surgery and radiation treatments. Weather looks like it will be just right. I have the trophy in hand for this year’s winner. It will be great to see everyone again. I’m heading up on Friday. See you there.                    Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

I am really looking forward to it and seeing you and all the other folks that go.  Hope you are feeling well.   I have not fished for Kokes since November and really having the Jones for it right now.... I may go up to Sly Wed to see how its doing and then to BB Thursday.   See you there

Troy

Troy, I got a chance to fish Sly Creek between my surgery and radiation treatments in February. Only caught 3 Kokes but the Rainbows and Browns were on the chew. The Trout were all caught using Speedy Shiners and Flicker Shad. Surface to 20’ at 1.6mph. Good luck if you make it up there. See you next Friday.

Hey Friends and Strangers.

Seeing if anyone has a double site or some extra room they wouldn't mind sharing with myself and my pup who is shy, very quiet and mostly sleeps in the back of my truck.
I managed to carve out a couple days off for my birthday this year. Had planned on going to Golden Road Gathering in Placerville but the line up fell short.
Since there aren't any sites left at Dark Day I thought I'd see if anyone could help a kayaker out.

I come with a StarLink, a cooler full of beers and can cover the cost of the site. Thanks

I believe we’ve met before but it’s been a long time. Sorry, I’ve forgotten your name. Don’t you work for OES at Mather? I’m sure someone will have space. Are you planning on sleeping with your pup in the truck with your dog or tenting it?

It’s Kyle. We fished sly creek awhile back. Yeah. Still over at Mather.
I also met Weimarian and Al’s hobbie outback at his Amador FnC.
The dog will be in my tent at night just because of wild life, during the day if he’s not with me he’ll hang in the truck.

Kyle, sorry, I’m horrible with remembering names. Probably too much partying in my younger days. The camping spaces are large a most have plenty of flat room for multiple tents. It’s the parking spaces that limit things. You may have to leave the truck in the upper parking lot. In the past years, several people have done this. The first camping spot is literally just a stones throw away. We have had no issues with people messing with things and people have slept in their vehicles up there. I sleep in my Sequoia and would be happy to park up there and help keep an eye on things.

No worries. I’m also guilty of name amnesia. I know there are some other campgrounds near by. Just thought I’d see if there was anyone who had the extra room first.

FYI There’s gonna be a tournament on Saturday :

“I want to remind everyone that this comin' Saturday May 16th I'll be hostin' Kokanee Krawl 26 at The Bar aka Bullards Bar Reservoir
This is a Free, Family Friendly, Fishin' Event!!!
We'll be launchin' out of the Dark Day boat launch
The gates open at 6am and they will be conductin' mandatory boat inspections for Golden Mussels
I understand that the inspection only takes about 5 minutes per boat and it's on a first come first serve basis so please bring your "patience hats"
I plan on greetin'' people down at the top of the boat ramp shortly after the gates open
After a mornin' of chasin' some Feisty Little Slime Rockets aka Kokanee Salmon we will meet at back the Dark Day upper parkin' lot for the 5 fish weigh-in
There will be some free grub and drinks
I'm still hopin' to get some more donations for the prize pool
My goal is to have enough prizes so that everyone participatin' gets something
I suggest that you bring chairs and maybe a pop up if you have one
There's not a lot of shade in that parkin' lot
So get your crews lined up, get your boats and rigs ready and don't forget your Special Corn
I'm lookin' forward to seein' you all there
Just sayin'”

I wish I could make it this year!
Alas, wedding planning and a Florence + The Machine concert will keep me in SF this weekend.
Kevin and Brian, you’re awesome for setting up this FnC.
Best of luck to all 🙏
