This. Hobie is about to be a Bass Pro house brand. Oof.  I hope the small shops can survive this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pull the brand entirely from all retailers except Bass Pro.

All in house distribution, That would be my guess. The acend and Hobie brands might meld? They might be banking on the accessory market more than big ticket kayak unit sales. Or. we could see them going up head to head with the bass boats.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Yes, that would almost certainly be true.

In any case, does anybody have evidence beyond internet rumors that Bass Pro actually bought Hobie? I seem to recall hearing this same rumor a few years ago...

Has anybody seen an official press release about Hobie's acquisition?  I don't trust these youtubers who are always looking for attention.

I have not been able to find anything.  One site pointed to what they said were details, but it was just AI garbage.

In my opinion would be the worst thing to happen. Bass pro only sells. Does not Manf anything. Hobie needs some new blood to manage manufacturing and getting parts fixed so they don't fail.
Lets hope it BS, false news.
