Sorry Brian, all I know is that it sucks to drive the canyon road when I'm in a hurry.
best of luck, someone on here ought to have real input.

Don’t know what it is about that canyon but shitloads of crashes there

Back when I drove it regularly

I witnessed one car hit the soft shoulder then swerve and flip in front of me

came upon another that was upside on the rocks down in the river which I figured the driver would be dead til he emerged with nothing but a broken pinky finger

my friend who lived remote in the canyon did the same late at night in the dead of winter and had to extract himself from his upside down car into the icy river

and my brother’s friend was riding his Harley through one of the tunnels felt a bump as a big RV passed and discovered on emerging into the daylight that his leg from the knee down was still in the tunnel… or on the front of the RV

No that came later Was a clean clip

Another friend who was a Norton guy like myself had a similar experience Riding with a friend on highway 9 a truck swung too wide in a corner and took off his friend’s left arm at the shoulder

They both went down My friend hobbled on a leg with multiple fractures and picked up the arm which went into a plastic bag for reattachment

Not sure how successful that was

Fished the area above the afterbay a couple times for Salmon, back 20 or so years ago when we still had them.

First question - by boat meaning kayak, or powercraft? if the former, you can put in right above the 70 bridge from a park. If you mean boat boat, there's a park with a ramp just downstream of the 70 bridge.

I've only been as far downstream as the section along the Oroville Wildlife area, below Oro Dam rd.  The "rapids" there were more like a good strong riffle. Easy Class 1. Not sure about what's going on with freshwater Salmon this year, but if there's an open season, expect a lineup there.

It sounds like they are catching some nice salmon this year. Limit is 1. From Live Oak Boat Launch down to 99 bridge is open till October 31st. Can a Hobie be pedaled up current in these areas or would you need to shuttle?

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.

I picked up a 18' klamath that comes with a jet lower and standard lower. Was thinking about hitting some skinny water chasing salmon but also don't want to be too foolish.
