Mine were very soft.  I was not interested in buying the pump.  I used my pump from my mtn bike shock absorber.  It’s high pressure but super low volume.  No danger of over inflation.  I had to pump vigorously to move any air.

I must have looked like I was ….. never mind.   A group of female joggers went wide around my house. :)

It works!

Ha! I definitely fiddled with my regular bike pump longer than I care to admit... Just to end up using my air compressor.

This is good though, didn't even consider my shock pump. I should probably just throw that under the seat in my truck - seems like I'm always out when I need it.

mine ended up popping.  I'd fill them at home (warm/hot) and get to the beach cool/cold, and they'd be soft, so I'd fill them at the beach, but then they'd warm up at home, finally got a big leak.  The idea of these things are good, but the practicality of them, esp going back and forth from Sacto to Coast in the summer, just didn't work for me.  Planning to tear one apart, see if I can put a wheel barrow tube on the inside.

I use my bike pump to fill the air using a valve extension to make it easier.  If you are continuing to lose air, your valve stem needs to be replaced, which is very simple, and I have done it with one of the wheels.  I used it 2-3 times per week and don't remember the last time I filled it with air.  It must have been over two years.

Why has no one made a foam wheel for kayak carts? Seems like it would solve the air problem.  Could also help reduce the cost...

makes total sense.  I filled mine but kept it soft, still.   I had a reasoning in my brain somewhere, and you put it it not words.  HA.

I happen to have a shock pump and my wheels need air, so thanks for the tip.

The small wheelEZ has a foam filled rubber wheel but it doesn't perform the same on sand as the large air filled tires. The pneumatic tires run at very low pressure (3 or 4 PSI) greatly increasing the foot print of the tire allowing passage on soft sand.

I also have been using my shock pump just need to add a little air every several years, don't overinflate and your good to go.
