Glad they made it right, even if you literally had to take them outside to show the situation.

Are those actual police officers, and is that public property?

Anyone who’s first reflex instinct, just to get some petty money, is to try to convince a regular schmo that they didn’t actually place their eyes on something they both took a picture of and that’s about 35 feet away where anyone can go verify it with almost zero time or effort isn’t a real officer. They aren’t a public servant, and they aren’t even a good person .

She wouldn’t actually walk out there with me when I said that’s what would be the best thing to do. She knew she was full of it and didn’t want to be 100% exposed for it.

If they aren't real police officers, do they even have the authority to ticket you?  Usually parking situations on private property are dealt with by calling actual police.  If they are real police officers, sounds like a formal complaint to the city is in order.  Agree with your take on this whole thing - it sounds like a petty money grab, and it sucks that you got caught up in it.

Glad you are feeling better.  Hopefully the mending time is quick.

And great job arguing your position.

I just recently saw the same ticket on my truck at lake Shasta.  I know I saw the pay kiosk covered in black plastic.  It’s was covered.  I went and took a picture of it and drove to the office.  As I’m leaving I see the new pay kiosk in the new position.   Nobody was at the office.  So I called later in the week.  Zero sympathy!   I had to pay.  I like Shasta too much to be on a list.

I moved on, and in this thread just reminded me of it all.   I try not to let anything ruin a good time.   I tried and didn’t succeed. I’m stoked you did.   Zero ill will towards the people that ticketed me.  They are trying to hold a line.  Whatever.

Shasta got me too before. Didn’t see my annual pass sticker, gave me a ticket. Happened twice. They made me prove it was on my vehicle at the time of the ticket to dismiss it and made a huge fuss about it. Luckily had older pics from that same season to dispute their claim. Kind of ridiculous that the burden to prove innocence falls on the citizen here. One of the many reasons I dislike Shasta recreation company.

Many fishermen spend their lives chasing fish, only to realize that it was themselves that they were chasing.
