My kids are heading there for the weekend taking my kayaks which are bone dry even dusty. Just wondering how their system is?

My son and I were there last weekend. Kayaks are exempt. If you trailer your kayak you must hand launch though.
If you are targeting kokes they are 65’ down and they are a nice size.

How are the lines getting to the launch ramps? I hear they aren’t opening the gates until 8 am, which makes me wonder if there are 40 boats lined up at the gate by 7 am…

Remarkably few boats on the water at all. With the quarantine and banding program you essentially have to commit to one lake for your boat. I imagine many boats who settled on NM have still not made it to 30 days. We got there late morning on Saturday and there were a couple dozen trailers in the lot. I usually avoid boat ramps because I don’t like being in the way but I had no problem taking my time to assemble my rig, tie to the dock and park and walk back down. On the way in I shared one side with another kayaker.
This weekend could be a different story though
From what it looks like maybe NM turns into more of a wake/ski/lake lice/pleasure boat  lake from Memorial Day through Labor Day
That’s when I start heading up to the sierras instead

The boat launch opens at 0630 on the weekends now. You can hand launch before that time and be off the water before the crowds show up.
