Monday 10-15 Tomales Bay Leopards

My name is Dale and this is my first hookup post, sorry for the late notice being it's for tomorrow morning. I'd welcome some company and a new face or two.

I'm headed to Tomales bay to fish for Leopards on Monday, looks like the day will be good, maybe a little rain, maybe a little wind, but overall good.  I'm going to launch at the wide turnout on the south side of Marshall,  I've fished here (about 1/2 mile straight accross from the launch) several times, catches have been from just 2 small smooth hounds one time, to can't put your rod down action on 4 ft leopards (7 in one trip). Just like fish'n anywhere else.  There's very little tidal flow back this far. I use 20# line, 1-2 oz sliding sinker, 3 ft 60# wire leader with one barbless hook 6/0-8/0.  Fishing side by side with others I've never found anything to work better than plain old squid.  This is just bait fishin on the anchor, nothing fancy  but a 20# leopard is just plain.

I'm going to launch at the wide turnout on the south side of Marshall, I drive a white Tacoma pickup, and will be in a mango maurader. I don't like to get up early so I don't plan to launch before about 9:30am. 

Some notes if you've never done this before and want to go on your own, I have caught a few 7 gill sharks in here, biggest ever was over 5 ft but only weighed 37#, (a baby), while leopards have little in the way of teeth, 7 gills have a mouth full of razor blades that will from experience, (no blood tho) cut thru leather.  Tomales bay sharks taste good if prepared properly, but have a very high level of mercury because they are year around residents (not so for the halibut), Ah, they're more fun to catch if you just let them go.
