I left yesterday for a colonoscophy and came back today to find a few things missing from my front yard and out of my truck. Pretty upset and I should have been more careful. They took my splitting axe, a half used jug of chainsaw fuel, and my new ultralight tent I camped in once with Dustin recently. When I left there was a Davey tree crew on the street. My road is 1/4 mile dead end and no one just drives down it. I think it was the tree crew. No neighbors saw anyone at MySpace. The strange thing is they also took a redwood branch hung two beer cans on it and put it one my front door. Having just lost my job I can't replace anything without it hurting a lot. I should have known better.

That sucks!

I live in a similar type of location (only house on the street/driveway, and about 1/10th mile off of the cross street), so I can relate to that aspect of it...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

A man shouldn't have to have a reason to worry about that stuff happening.
To those who do this....

Sorry to hear that - that is awful. When I hear stories like these, it makes me want to believe in karma. And they should get what’s coming to them.

Hopefully this means you have some really good luck coming your way soon! I’m thinking limits on all of your favorites…

After talking with my neighbors I believe it was the tree trimming crew. The axe was a Fiskars splitting axe. Not super expensive but it was needed so I'll probably buy another. More worried about a return visit so I'll be making sure my shed is more secure since i think they peeked in through the Crack in the door. If they didn't taunt me with the beer can tree I think I'd be less worried.

It could be karma for something done wrong catching up with me too. I also

You might consider installing security cameras and warning signs.  I have placed them around our new home and we feel much more secure.

That’s a bummer.  Security cameras are necessity now a days.

I do have cameras, but i'm usually home so I only have them on at night. Thanks for the support guys, I just needed to get it off my chest to someone so I can move on from it. I'll be vigilant now and keep the house secure, cameras on when I leave and all that.  It hurt my pride more than anything, so thanks for letting me vent.  You guys all rock!

That bites

Our last neighborhood the houses all around us were burglarized, bikes taken from garages etc a few times in broad daylight

We had a prowler one night flashing a light and tapping on our bedroom window to test whether anyone was home before breaking in. I shoulda unloaded some 38 in the general direction just for entertainment but then you owe the landlord for repairs

Sorry to hear you lost your job, my cousin’s daughter just lost hers for being an outstanding employee at NOAA

The beer can tree thing hints at some kind of stoner, no? I’d be on the lookout for tweakers

At least you should report the theft to the cops.
...fingerprints off beer cans...hmmm...only on TV .....probably cops not going to spend their time pursuing that avenue

I left a message for the sherrifs department in town yesterday but haven't heard back. For sure i'm reporting it, and if I can figure out a way to complain to the tree trimmers I'll do that too.

   I hate thieves...
Davey pays their guys well,  I doubt they'd jeopardize their job.    If anything, see if you can speak to that crew.  They might have some info to share on who they saw..
Leaving the beer cans suggests they may have acted like they " knew you", in front of the tree guys,  so as to not raise their suspicion.
Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.
