Since my move to Mendocino last October, I have been researching fish-cleaning tables.  I watched many YouTube videos to make one, searched Craigslist and Market Place for a used one, and searched Amazon for new ones.

Finally, I purchased one from Amazon for $129.  It is a 24x48x34 inch table with only the top shelf stainless, the lower shelf and legs are galvanized steel.  I think it will work for my purpose and plan to add a sink on the side later.

That looks like a pretty nice setup for what you paid - thanks for sharing that.

I've been thinking about building some sort of fish station also, but for $130, seems like that prep bench would be tough to beat.

Nice. You gotta have a sink. Look forward to seeing the cleaning station evolve.

I got that cheap plastic one from Bass Pro that has an integrated shallow sink and faucet that you hook up to a hose and drain to a bucket. The faucet is useless - I just use a hose and nozzle that can hang off the side, but the drain to bucket feature is good.

wow, looks nice!

Galvanized and Stainless steel can cause corrosion at the interface - so you might look for a way to keep them isolated somehow, possibly a plastic or wood piece between them, or plumbers tape if the legs are threaded in.

otherwise, just make sure you get all the saltwater cleaned off after use - and keep the table clean and dry between uses.

see ya,

Thank you for the tips.  I will try to isolate the legs.

I kept searching CL and marketplace for that perfect fish cleaning station until this pops out. Picked it up today and I couldn't be happier. It's large enough for my wife and I to clean fish side by side and the big sink is a big plus. I've been looking for months and did not want to settle for just a flat stainless table.

There's a company that sells stainless prep tables that looks like a good fish cleaning table, but they are located down south (City of Industry) in case anyone's interested. https://www.coolerdepotusa.com/products/details/101959/nsf-ss-work-table-commercial-kitchen-sink-c1t162012-40r

I would go down to Home Depot or Lowes and get one of those mountable magnetic tool holder bars, and mount it on one of the ends so I can have knives, scaler, pliers and what not with in easy reach!  But that's me, to each their own, hope those work out well for you guys!

One of my neighbors gave me a stainless sink.  I plan to install it next to the stainless table.
What type of lumber would be the best choice for the installation table?  I think I need approximately 36 lf of 2x4.

Outdoors in a wet location... I'd go pressure-treated hemfir.

Thank you.  I had some concerns for the chemicals used for pressure treatment.
