Nice! I think you will like that rod - a lot of really serious kokanee guys use that same one.

Once you taste a couple kokanee, you will definitely be back for more, haha. Best tasting freshwater fish, IMO.

Great choice Pickitup. Now just pair it with a quality line counter reel and you're good to go. Post up when you are going and if you want company. I'm sure several will join you. The 3rd Annual Bullards Bar Fish-n-Chill is coming up in May. It's a great time and you'll be able to put your new rod to use there. Bullards is loaded with Kokanee.

Don't regret your purchase by any means, you absolutely need a limber shock absorbing rod to fish for kokanee or you will have little success landing them. Their mouths are super soft and can rip a hook right out.  Get out there and enjoy some koke fishing!

I have had quite a few, now have 2 of these really like the action. Not noodles  https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-nck762l-north-coast-salmon-and-steelhead-rod.html

Another Eagle Claw user here, they're cheap and do the job when trolling. I wouldn't use them for casting or if I was fishing based on feel, but for trolling they load up well and keep a good bend when reeling in kokes.

Definitely go with a fiberglass Kokanee rod over a carbon rod. All the extra play will reduce the chance of tearing the Kokanee’s lip and the hook slipping out.
I lucked out and got a used g loomis mahogany custom and Shimano Cardiff at HOOKD in Ione for $200 last year the day before a meet up plug n jug hosted. As someone who has lower end rods and reels I could instantly feel the massive difference between an ultra light ugly stick rod and the new (for me) g loomis.

If you’re using a downrigger, switch to a mini clip with a lower tension than the full size clips, I use a Scotty mini clip.
With flashers, dodgers or whatever else you’re dragging you’ll never notice you’re hooked up on a smaller Koke. Then when you go to reset your gear you’ll have a small dead fish.

I like bright colors and shiny blues for all depths but recently was sent a similar lure color selection chart by a buddy. Haven’t been out since September due to work so I can’t speak on its relevance to Kokanee.
