After seeing these last few posts,  it convinced me to put together a spinning reel setup this winter!
Nice Lings Justin!! I can see how that would be fun!!!

So a few years back I went on my first 8-day long range.  I brought a spinning rod to throw wahoo bombs.  The old timers laughed at me and my coffee grinder.  Until I caught 14 wahoo on that thing.  The next year, more than half the boat was tossing spinning rods.  Choose the right rod for the job.

Last winter, I picked up this spinning rod from eBay. It’s about 5’10” and fiberglass. I believe the seller got it from an estate sale from a fisherman who did things his way, as there were a few one-of-a-kind rods for sale. Solid guides that handle braid are a must. With my Penn Spinfisher 6500, I had lots of fun with reasonable rockfish and lingcod and handled bigger things like nice halibut, some big rays, and a thresher. It’s long enough to get around the nose of my Passport with a good fish on, but rounding the length up a bit might be good. If you’re on a Revo 16, just fish on the side you want to boat ‘em on.
