That afternoon I shot back to Ridgecrest to fuel up and get some lunch, then I headed over to Red Rock Canyon State Park to camp for the night.

The next morning I got up early and headed home. I took 178 over to Bakersfield and that drive alone would have made the trip worth it. I wish I would've stopped to take some pictures of the Kern River but I was already in Get-Home mode.

Overall an awesome trip and a great way to end out the year. I'm glad I went solo because it gave me the opportunity to take my time and move on my own schedule, but it would've been nice to have a wing man so I could've explored more trails.

Those mountains and hills look so awesome, I'm wishing I could have gone with you!  What would they have to say about the past if they could talk.  Amazing views!  I would love to venture up there some day, and you are inspiring me to travel to places that are not fishing related now  :smt044

Looks like an awesome trip…..every time I fly south, the untouched areas of the state intrigue me.  Looks desolate from the air but there must be a ton of cool stuff down there to enjoy.

It's a small world indeed.

We are just now at Red Rock Canyon State Park, one of our favorite places. We pulled in last night after leaving from Gasquet on the afternoon of New Year's Day. We're leaving Gasquet and its 54" of rain since Oct. 1 for a short respite. I think I'm already starting to lose my fashionable moldy green luster in spite of a low of 42* and a high of 62*.

I went crabbing in my kayak a couple times in Crescent City so far this year, but it looks like the season is off to a slow opener. We'll head back up for some steelhead action in a month or so.
Great pics of RRCSP, but pictures never does this area justice.

Thanks. I had to whittle my 400 plus pics down to 100 or so.  :smt044

I’m definitely going back soon and the JAH Runner can easily make it to any of the places I went.  :smt002

Yeah, it’s pretty bad ass. Next time I’m going to try to find some petroglyphs.

Awesome! I wish I had more time to explore the park when I was there.
