Good News, Mark.  Do you happen to know if other lakes received a second plant?

Man, SC looks like a postage stamp sized lake. May have to give that or Quarry a try next week.

The would be great if you can make it there if the list gets completed. I have a list as well. The EBRPD lakes require your kayak to be inspected before launching. Make sure everything is clean and dry. Roll up a paper towel sheet, and run it down any rod holders, or areas you can’t see into. Gate opens at 7.

Good advice on prepping your gears to pass inspection. Shadow Cliffs, Quarry, and Chabot are a lot less strict on inspection. Del Valle is the strictest of all Eastbay parks. The “gate keeper” there takes pride in failing kayakers. Good luck. I might take the kayak out this Sunday to go after the planted trouts either at Shadow Cliffs or Chabot. I am leaning towards Chabot since the views are amazing from a kayak. Hope to run into some NCKA guys out there this Winter season.

Yeah, the inspection can be a little nerve wracking. I always worry about picking up some condensation on the drive, so I usually stop just outside the park and wipe everything down just in case.

The guy at Del Valle is definitely a scrutinizer, but with some prep it isn't bad. He got me one time for a smear of water inside (debatable about "standing water" but whatever) and a couple drops of water in one of my flush mount rod holders. He was pretty unfriendly about it too, so I returned the attitude.

My next trip there I made sure to have everything dry, and passed with no hiccups. The guy was even a lot friendlier this time too.

Today, I went to Contra Loma - it is the closest lake for me. Trolled around all morning, nada. Saw a few fish roll the surface, but nothing wanted to play. TONS of bait. Every corner and shallow spot had huge schools of minnows.

Trolled 4 hours, and only hooked a 2lb trout that popped off at the kayak. That will most likely be my last trip in the Stealth which is a minimalist setup.
