Got to Linda Mar today about 5 AM; saw jselli checking out the launch. He was going to return, but maybe he saw my launch... :smt119  I tried straight out next to the creek; ouch! Trudged through the first few waves, then saw the REAL ones coming - too late! First one turned my boat sideways, second bounced it off my face, third rolled it; then it got rolled again, then finally I was out of there and on the water  :smt001
Paddled through green swells, started trolling at the little point, paddled through blue swell and big chop - what am I doing here!? Then finally beyond the big point it started to mellow into just large rolling swells and not too much wind (6 AM). Saw birds on and over the water about a half mile west of the big point; paddled for them but didn't make it. Boom boom (Happy 4th), 2 keepers 4 and 5 lb. in 10 minutes. Made tracks for the beach - smooth landing amid many surfers.
At the house with fish at 8:45 = WAF 10   :smt008

Great job Granite!

I did return just a few minutes later and contimplated why I woke up so early.  Pulled the yak to the beach and my first attempt to launch was thworted.  I rallied back and made it through smoothly.  Got to the point and decided to fish for rockfish as the day reminded of Friday the 1st (big swell developed by ten).  Bobbed in the wind and swell for 1 hour  for a 0.  However I did catch an interesting species of star fish that was as heavy as boulder. It had about 20 legs and it looked like a mushroom?

Anyway landed smoothly and by the time I loaded up the swell seemed to calm way down the the launch was ideal!  Still windy.

I wish I would have made the troll for salmon.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering and my family thought I was fool of crap.

Great name. I could have used it today.

Very Cool.  I can't wait for someone to catch a slug at Linda Mar.

I caught one of those at Moss Landing last year with Chuck and Kevin while drifting for Halibut. I thought it was a freak of nature  :smt104

Granitedive, thanks for the report....I'll be making trips to Linda Mar after work this week. Hope the swells die down. Last year, I remember that there were days out there and when it was like lake.

After my last trip to LM with Jason and the rest of the gang, I'll be wearing my wetsuit instead of just the dry pants - I should have know better  :smt011

Nice Job Granite.  Pretty sweet to be home that early w/Limits.

Looking forward to Linda Mar for both the shorter paddle and oppotunity to pick up some rockfish in case the salmon bite is off (OR on like you experienced) :smt001
